With that passion comes dreams such as a fireman, a policeman, a doctor to help people, a nurse, an astronaut, cialis order a scientist, a dancer, actor or singer. On and on the list goes as each child holds a different dream for themselves. What about children with special needs? Is there a place in their future where they can realize their dreams? Are their colleges for those with learning disabilities? Or colleges for ADHD students or high function Autistic students?

Some local city or state colleges offer special programs for those with learning disabilities, but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot to choose from, it is hard when a child grows in height, years but not maturity. We have a son who is 16 years old, but his maturity level is younger and his educational level is much, much younger. Where does he go after High School? He is the fourth child in our family and as one by one his brothers and sister have gone off to college he verbalizes the dream for himself to follow in their footsteps.

I don’t know what the future holds for this child, it is sad as a parent to watch a child know what they want to secure for themselves but not have the tools to make these dreams a reality. Our local High School offers a program wherein he can continue high school until he is 21, not at the local high school but at a trade tech, he can have a job coach and learn a simple trade, maybe work in a fast food establishment. This is good and we are grateful for something, but this isn’t his dream, his dream is to go off to college like his siblings before him and Cialis have roommates, a cafeteria, classes, social gatherings and just enjoy college life.

Could he do it? That is the big question, I can’t really see it at this point. He has not matured enough to get himself from point A to point B without a lot of coaching, mentoring and general pushing. He gets side tracked getting his shoes on and eating breakfast. What happens to children like this? Will he live at home forever? That is fine with us, his parents, but it isn’t fine for him. I have read about colleges for ADHD students and colleges for those with learning disabilities. I need to do a little research and see if those options are for him

Everyone has a dream, as parents it is our greatest joy to help our children obtain the tools to reach theirs.
