There is more to poker than simply playing the game well. Like golf, etiquette is a big part of the game. You don’t want to be one of those poker players who while people respect them for being a good player, they don’t respect because they don’t play the game in the right spirit.

When it comes to poker, someone has to win and lose. That is why you play the game. Such being the case you need to be both a good winner and a good loser. There are times when you are going to be in the shoes of the other person and you don’t want someone to be a bad loser or bad winner because of the way you react.

What this means is to be well-mannered and spoken. Banter at the poker table can be funny but don’t overdo it and come across as a broken record of inane sayings. Don’t try to be too funny because what you are going to do is the opposite. Just be a gentleman and respect all of your fellow players as well as the dealer.

Part of poker etiquette means knowing all of the poker rules. You don’t want to come across as ignorant because you are arguing something where you are in fact 100% wrong.
