Chicago Bulls Tickets – An Important Offseason
One major event that changed the course of Chicago Bulls history occurred two years ago, when the Bulls lucked out and won the NBA Draft Lottery and the right to select Chicago native Derrick Rose. Rose instantly became the face of the franchise and is quickly establishing himself as one of the best point guards in the league. Some equally important events could transpire this summer, as the Bulls entered the offseason with a lot of cap space and a coaching vacancy.
The Bulls have already selected their new head coach and it looks like they’ve hit a home run. Chicago landed the top assistant in the league, signing Boston’s Tom Thibodeau to guide their franchise for the foreseeable future. Thibodeau has been a hot name for a couple of years now but took his time in choosing a head coaching job, even going as far to reportedly reject an offer to coach the New Orleans Hornets earlier this offseason.
Thibodeau is a defensive whiz and has been the driving force behind Boston’s fantastic defensive play over the past few seasons. He’ll help the Bulls instantly in that department, which should elevate this team as a whole immediately. Thibodeau might not sell a ton of Chicago Bulls tickets on his own, but winning will and he should help bring victories to the Windy City.
The real question of this offseason is whether or not the Bulls will land a big name via free agency. Chicago appears to be a realistic landing spot for any of the top free agents this summer thanks to their young nucleus, one that features Rose and center Joakim Noah. The Bulls are fresh off reaching the playoffs, which is another reason that free agents are interested in joining this club.
The crown jewel of this free agent class is obviously LeBron James. A lot of NBA pundits have pegged Chicago as a good bet to land LeBron due to their young talent and King James’ desire to win championships. With James, Rose and Noah, the Bulls would have a fantastic core to continue to build around and would immediately be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Whether he’ll accept playing in Michael Jordan’s shadow or not is unknown, though.
If LeBron doesn’t come to Chicago, the consolation prizes aren’t too shabby either. Chicago native Dwyane Wade could look to make this summer a homecoming party. The Bulls have a glaring hole at the two and Wade would give Chicago that elite scorer they lack. Rose is one of the few players on the Bulls’ roster that can create his own shot; Wade would give them one of the best in the game at creating scoring opportunities for himself.
The Bulls also have a major dearth of low-post scoring. Not since the team traded Elton Brand in 2001 has Chicago had a reliable post presence on the offensive end. Lucky for them, this summer’s free agent class has three very good power forwards. Chris Bosh headlines that group, and Bosh would be a great fit in Chicago. He’d give the Bulls a big man to run their offense through and would be a fantastic complement next to Noah. Other options include Amar’e Stoudemire and Carlos Boozer. Either of these guys would give the team a significant boost and make home court advantage in the first round of the 2011 playoffs a realistic goal. Other free agents the team could consider include Ray Allen, J.J. Redick, Josh Childress, Raja Bell and Tony Allen, among others.
The future is definitely bright in Chicago, but we won’t know how bright until Brand Cialis the dust settles this summer. If the Bulls can land a top free agent, the future will become now in the Windy City, but either way this is definitely a team on the rise. They’ve got a very good coach in place and could have a star joining him soon. If LeBron or Wade comes to town, the title talk will surely begin.
