Exploring the Wineries Near Austin, Texas
Are you a wine aficionado? If so, you will love the many wineries that are located throughout the Austin area. Not only is Austin home to several wineries, they each also have their own unique style and specialty. In all, you will find 34 wineries to visit and to enjoy. Here is a look at some of the younger wineries, all of which were founded in this century.
Barking Rocks Winery
Barking Rocks Winery is located in Granbury and specializes in small batch, dry varietals. Although it was just founded in 2002, the winery’s showcase wine is its 2004 sangiovese, which is considered to be an intense wine and is created from high plains grapes. Barking Rocks Winery also won the bronze medal in Kamagra jelly the Lone Star International Wine Competition in 2004.
Bluff Dale Vineyards
Bluff Dale Vineyards is located in Bluff Dale and was founded in 2004. The winery’s specialty style include several Cialis Jelly varietals as well as sweet wines, dry wines, and blends. The showcase wine of this winery is its 2004 cabernet sauvignon reserve, which has a strong structure.
Brennan Vineyards
Founded in 2001, Brennan Vineyards is located in Comanche. The specialty style of Brennan Vineyards is cabernet sauvignon, Syrah, Comanche Rose, and viognier. The winery’s showcase wine is a 2006 viognier, which won the Grand Star Award at the Lone Star International Wine Competition for Best Texas White.
Rising Star Vineyards
Rising Star Vineyards was founded in 2005 and is located in Rising Star. The specialty style of this winery is small lots of handcrafted wines and the winery places a special emphasis on unique treatments and blends. Its showcase wine is a 2006 Barber, which is a lush red wine that has a big impact on the mid-palate and has plenty of mouth feel.
Red Caboose Winery
Red Caboose Winery was founded in 2007 and is located in Meridian. The specialty style of the winery is red wines such as viognier and tempranillo and its showcase wine is a 2005 cabernet sauvignon.
Texas Legato Winery
The Texas Legato Winery was founded in 2006 and is located in Lampasas. The winery’s specialty style is merlot, cabernet sauvignon, petite syrah, merlot, chardonnay, malbec, Sweet Surrenter, and Sojourn. Its showcase wine is Family Reunion, which is a blend of red wines.
Many new wineries have been opened up in Austin over the past few years and there are likely to be more, as Austin offers a great climate and soil for producing excellent wine.
