George Strait Tickets – The Best in 25 Years, Strait Keeps Going
George Strait was named Billboard’s number one of Top 25 country music artists of the last quarter of a century. The Country Music Hall of Famer beat out Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw (all of whom made the Top 5) thanks to his 44 number one Hot Country Song hits. The numbers were based on weekly performances from the Hot Country Songs and Top Country Albums charts from January 1985 Cialis Jelly to May 29, 2010. The music industry veteran, who has been playing music for over two decades, is going to be around for a lot longer. In celebration of Billboard’s top honor, Strait announced 11 fall tour dates simultaneous with his live DVD reissue of a concert taped in the ’80s. Along with Reba McEntire and Lee Ann Womack for the September 9 show in Columbus, Ohio, reports CMT.com, Strait will visit Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Minnesota and North Dakota. George Strait Live was released as a Walmart exclusive on June 15 and was filmed at the Dallas Reunion Arena on New Year’s Eve 1986 with Strait’s band Ace in the Hole. Some of the DVD tracks include “Amarillo by Morning,” “The Chair,” “Check Yes or No,” “She’ll Leave Kamagra jelly You with a Smile” and “Living for the Night.”
Strait was born in Poteet, Texas on a farm that his family had owned for over a century. Though he was always interested in music, he wasn’t a huge fan of country music initially and formed a rock ‘n’ roll band while in high school. It was in Hawaii when he was stationed on the island during the Army that he began playing country music with the sponsored band Rambling Country. After he returned to Texas he formed the country group Ace in the Hole. He tried to make records with the group with indie label in Dallas, but they proved unsuccessful.
Eventually Strait teamed up with Erv Woolsey, formerly of MCA Records, who signed Strait. The country singer started releasing hit after hit after the first, 1980’s “Unwound.” He started counting number one singles with 1982’s “Fool Hearted Memory,” getting 31 number ones well before the end of the ’90s.
A country music traditionalist, Strait’s music was based on honky tonk and Western swing even when the industry started swinging pop. Just as successful as all of his singles, Strait albums went either gold or platinum. In 1992 he started to shift toward acting, appearing in his first film “Pure Country” as the lead. Strait celebrated his 25 years in the industry with the album It Just Comes Natural, a set he called “one of the best albums I’ve ever done” on his website. That album appeared in 2006, which was followed by Troubadour and the holiday Classic Christmas in 2008, followed by Twang in 2009. Strait’s new DVD features several hours of bonus music videos and digitally remastered 5.1 surround sound.
