Indianapolis Colts Tickets – Can Colts Lock in Peyton Manning?

Ever since Peyton Manning entered the league as a rookie in 1998, he has been the name and face of the Indianapolis Colts. Like other franchise quarterbacks, it is difficult to imagine him playing for any other team in the league, and Colts president Bill Polian is making sure he remains in Colts blue. Manning’s contract is set to expire following the 2010 season, and Polian assured the media that his team is working hard to hammer out a contract extension before the start of this season.

While this may seem like normal fare for star players and contracts, it isn’t. The 2010 season doesn’t have a salary cap so far, and an uncapped year could drastically change the league. In addition, the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is set to expire in 2011, adding more uncertainty to where salaries will be headed. Polian recognized the difficulties when speaking with the Associated Press and reiterated that the team was working on nailing down a new contract for Manning despite being in “uncharted waters.”

Manning has certainly earned his paycheck, no matter how high the numbers go. He was won the NFL’s MVP Award four times and taken his team to two Super Bowls. The first was following the 2006 season when the team took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy, and the second was last year when they lost to the New Orleans Saints. In his long career, he has started every single regular season game, tallying 50,128 yards, 366 touchdowns and a passer rating of 95.2. At 34 years old, the veteran quarterback still hasn’t passed his prime. Last season, he had 4,500 yards, 33 touchdowns, 16 interceptions and a rating of 99.9.

Manning is staying tight-lipped on the contract talks, keeping with his reputation as a level-headed professional. He did, however, comment on the team’s new offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen. He is replacing longtime Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore, who has Brand Cialis moved to senior offensive assistant. According to the Colts’ website, Manning said that Christensen and Moore are used to working together. Manning said, “Tom has allowed Clyde to Silagra have a lot of input and Clyde had a lot of responsibility when it came to the passing game. I certainly feel confident in him and what he’ll bring to the table.”

Christensen is no stranger to the Colts, as he has been the wide receivers coach since 2002. Prior to his time with the Colts, he served as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2001 following stints as tight ends coach and quarterbacks coach. He spent time in the college coaching ranks at schools like Clemson and East Carolina before coming to the NFL. The Colts have one of the strongest offenses in the league, especially in terms of passing. They ranked ninth in total offense in 2009 and second in passing behind the Houston Texans. The 2010 season is sure to be an exciting one for the team, and fans can find Indianapolis Colts tickets online today.
