Legally Blonde Tickets – Manila Performance Opens
This production has a following that goes well beyond most Broadway shows can manage. It’s managed to capture the attention of angst-ridden teens and skeptical males, most of whom aren’t even too fond of the idea of prominent pink or blonde sorority girls. Yet somehow “Legally Blonde” always manages to become a fan favorite, as evident in the Journal Sentinel Online’s review, which says, “Even with the mountains of pink fluff and a plot that’s lighter than Elle Woods’ Chihuahua…[it’s] something irresistible.”
After taking North America by storm, “Legally Blonde” moves on to Manila, where it premiered June 25 starring the country’s legendary television star Nikki Gil. Though a limited engagement running only through July 18, it is yet another move toward international success. Get more with Legally Blonde tickets online.
The storyline rings true to many of the actresses who get to play the coveted role of Elle Woods, like Atlantic Production’s star Gil. The actress has had to overcome many obstacles to make it to the coveted role made famous by Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 flick. Gil relates to Woods because she has seen the doubts in people’s faces. “The people Cialis who have faith in me make me want to prove that [Atlantis Productions] did the right thing by getting me for this project,” she said to Philstar.com.
The show is expected to be a huge hit in the country that has long loved the blonde locks and pink wardrobe of Elle Woods. “Broadway Asia Company is thrilled to be working once again with Atlantis Productions on the upcoming performances of the Broadway hit musical ‘Legally Blonde,'” said Simone Genatt, Chairman of Broadway Asia Company who has licensed the production to Atlantis. “With the tremendous star power of Nikki Gil heading an incredibly talented cast of local performers, we feel very confident that Legally Blonde will be very successful in the hands of Atlantis Productions.”
“Legally Blonde” closed on Broadway in October 2008, less than a year after MTV’s “Legally Blonde the Music: The Search for Elle Woods” winner Bailey Hanks earned the lead. Though the self-proclaimed real life Elle Woods was disappointed in her short-lived success, Hanks has since gone on to star in several Broadway shows, a television series and is expected to appear in her major motion film debut Brand Levitra this summer. “I am really focusing on TV/film and I’ve been teaching a lot of Broadway Dance Workshops,” she said recently. “I love teaching and giving back to the people who support me.”
The show is currently on tour in North America, entertaining audiences for limited engagements through August. The production is also playing in London. Opening in 2007, the musical earned an Outer Critic’s Circle Award, seven Tony Award nominations and 10 Drama Desk Award nominations. It follows the loveable sorority girl Elle Woods who follows her boyfriend to Harvard Law School after he dumps her for not being serious enough. Set out to prove to herself, her boyfriend and everyone else that she is just as capable at succeeding, Woods takes the school over with her charm, style and wit.
