Perhaps no position has been more up in the air this season than closer. While Jonathon Paplebon, Mariano Rivera and Francisco Rodriguez headed into the season as the closers that everyone wants, a slew of new names have come seemingly out of nowhere to take over as the top closers so far in 2010. Here Cialis Jelly are the top five closers as of June 9th.

5. Brian Wilson, San Francisco Giants. Wilson has benefitted greatly from the resurgent Giants, who sit five games above .500 through their first 55 games. Though they struggle to score runs at times, they also have one of the very top pitching staffs in the league, which combines to give Wilson plenty of opportunities to slam the door shut in the ninth. Wilson has 14 saves to go along with a very respectable 36 strikeouts as well, placing him among the strikeout leaders for closers.

4. Rafael Soriano, Tampa Bay Rays. With 15 saves already this season, Soriano has been lights out at the back end of the Rays bullpen. The Rays have finally slowed down a little bit but Soriano still has had plenty of save opportunities and has an ERA below 1.00. Though he doesn’t strike many guys out – just 20 through three months of the season – Soriano is turning into one of the very top closers in the league due to his accuracy and overall consistency of delivery. As the Rays look to take down the AL East, the opportunities should keep coming for Soriano all season long.

3. Carlos Marmol, Chicago Cubs. Marmol is a strikeout machine, plain and simple. With 51 strikeouts already this season, Marmol continues to prove that he has one of the most electric arms in the game, though he still seems to be clouded by obscurity. If the Cubs are to make a move and compete in the NL Central, they will need Marmol to continue his dominance.

2. Heath Bell, San Diego Padres. Of the surprises so far this season, the Padres may just be the biggest. With one of the best records in the league through three months of the season, the Padres continue to pull out big wins, and a major reason has been the consistency of closer Heath Bell. With 15 saves and 33 strikeouts, Bell has the numbers to help your team fill up the stat sheet. Though the Padres very well could come back to Earth at some point this season, they also should continue to play in lots of close games, which will keep Bell as one of the best options around.

1. Jonathan Broxton, Los Angeles Dodgers. With 14 saves and 40 strikeouts, Broxton has put together another dominant season as the Dodgers’ closer. His strong pitching has helped the Dodgers get out of the early hole they put themselves in and definitely helps sell plenty of MLB tickets. Though they may get more competition from the Padres than originally expected, I still expect the Dodgers to win the division, giving Broxton plenty of chances to rack up the saves yet again throughout the rest of the season.

Best of the rest:
Matt Capps, Washington Nationals. Capps actually leads the league with 18 saves but has a mediocre ERA for a closer (3.62). Still, Capps continues to get the job done, mostly, and is a very good option at closer.

Jon Rauch, Minnesota Twins. When closer Joe Nathan went down with a season-ending injury in spring training, the Twins appeared to be in trouble. Rauch has slid very nicely into the closer role, however, and has posted 15 saves and a decent 2.74 ERA. The Twins wouldn’t be where they are without him.

Mariano Rivera, New York Yankees. Any closers list has to have Mariano Rivera on it by law. Rivera hasn’t had too many opportunities to close games because of the Yankees powerful Kamagra jelly offense, which often leads to a blowout, but he has been very effective in his minimal chances. Rivera still has 13 saves and a ridiculous 0.72 WHIP.
