Muse Tickets – Taking on ‘Voodoo’ and Vampires
After 16 years, alternative rock effort Muse has targeted a brand new audience. Since contributing three singles to Brand Cialis the Twilight series, the only group to appear on all three film soundtracks, the group has done a first in introducing pre-teen females to the sound of Muse. The tween films based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer are a cultural phenomenon, and now Muse is part of it.
Their original track “Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)” is the leadoff single for the new film Eclipse, the third installment in the series, which has a music video out now reports Billboard. The track follows up the group’s 2009 September release The Resistance. In other Muse news, the England based effort has just been announced as headliner for the Voodoo Experience Festival in October. Muse, along with Ozzy Osbourne and Weezer, will perform at the weekend festival in New Orleans City Park Oct. 29-31 with a lineup that includes MGMT, Drake, Metric, Hot Chip, Interpol Paul van Dyk and more. The festival date is just one of many Muse is expected to attend this year, performing around the world this summer at shows like the Rock for People in Czech Republic; T in the Park in Scotland; Fuji Rock Festival in Japan; Austin City Limits Festival and more. The group’s tour dates run through October.
Aside from gaining some blood-thirsty fans and headlining the world’s biggest festivals, Muse has been supporting The Resistance throughout the world’s largest venues. It seems only fitting that Muse would contribute to Twilight’s pre-teen frenzy when their fifth studio set of 2009, The Resistance, fell along similar lines. Inspired by Queen and featuring whimsical lyrics out of from something from a rock opera, the imaginary world where vampires and werewolves run amuck seems involuntary.
Yet unlike the immature development of Twilight, Muse’s album is their most comprehensive to date with melodies and lyrics that genre flip. The 11-track set develops Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy’s aspirations toward Queen sounds and science fiction. The album went on to top Billboard’s Rock Albums and Modern Rock Albums chart and peaked third on the Billboard 200.
Muse formed in their teens and took influences to alt-rock extremes with the debut EP Muscle Museum. It was their live enthusiasm that enabled the Teignmouth, Devon natives to stand out, with a Maverick Records deal and UK platinum release (from the third full length The Origin of Symmetry). In 2002 Muse was a relative success in Europe, creating Hullabaloo Soundtrack and Absolution within a matter of two years.
Finally the group began a tour in North America in support of Absolution, which finally went gold in the U.S. Black Holes and Revelations appeared in 2006, the group’s first to break into the Top 10 and number one in the U.K. That album finally enabled international success with headlining tours in Australia, Southeast Asia and their home turf, preparing fans for the release of the 2008 live album H.A.A.R.P. Live from Wembley and 2009’s addition.
