Passion Pit Tickets – Returning to U.S. for North American Jaunt
Fresh off dates abroad, Passion Pit has returned to the States for a spring tour through North America, hitting Denver, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Portland, Nashville and Brunswick through May 1. Viagra Professional The underground indie rock outfit has been getting praise from mainstream pop acts like John Mayer and Justin Timberlake for months, though it was “Sleepyhead” and “The Reeling” that finally impressed enough commercial fans to start listening to their tracks.
The group is currently supporting Manners, the debut album featuring infectious dance beats and lyrics performed by Michael Angelakos, Nathan Donmoyer, Ian Hultquist, Ayad Al Adhamny and Jeff Apruzzese. If you’re hoping to catch these Boston natives as they tour through the States this year, now is your chance, go online and pick up your own Passion Pit tickets!
Sure, it might not be huge news that this indie electric pop outfit has opened up their North American tour, but for the young stars (some just barely old enough to drink), it’s a dream come true. Still reeling off of their newfound fame, their live performances catch the quintet actively frolicking around the stage, with microphone or guitar in hand as they powerfully perform the hits first conceived by lonely boy Angelakos.
Though Passion Pit was originally a one-man band created for a girlfriend, the lady was left wayside as Angelakos found local fame with the EP Chunk of Change. Since finding success, Passion Pit has been hit with the recording bug, leaving little time between new records and tour dates – evident in the new Manners Deluxe Edition, which appeared April 13th. The new album features artwork different from the original album, along with bonus tracks like the Cranberries cover “Dreams.”
Riding off the success of the set is Al Adhamy’s record label Black Bell Records, which recently signed new act the Joy Formidable. Already familiar with each other as Joy Formidable toured with Passion Pit last year during the string of NYC Terminal 5 shows, the groups are set to mesh well during this new production time. Already a fan, Adhamy revealed his passion for the Londoners Brand Cialis during their 2009 EP A Balloon Called Moaning, which is an EP Black Bell will help to re-release in May. The Joy Formidable is currently touring throughout the UK this year, with dates through the summer.
Passion Pit isn’t your average indie rock outfit, though they might don skinny jeans and plaid button downs. The actual tunes hailing as Passion Pit’s first were a Valentine’s gift for a girlfriend. Though the relationship didn’t last, luckily the sound bites did, enabling lover boy Angelakos to hit the big time with his piano and computer skills. Chunk of Change was “born by default,” as the group’s website writes, and it once passed around his circle of friends before turning into a local phenomenon.
By 2008 the group was selling out New York’s bar circuit and began working with Chris Zane of the Walkmen for the debut. “Check the carefully-sculpted songwriting on display,” the website says in description of Manners, “because when Angelakos says he wants to be the next Randy Newman, he’s dead serious.”
