The Impact Of Nutrigenomics
Nutrition plays an important role to the well-being of an individual. Proper nutrition helps make the human body to function very well. When the recommended dietary allowance is met according Brand Cialis to the standards of your Government’s department of health, together with appropriate physical exercise, an optimal health is not Silagra impossible to achieve.
However, the nutritional needs of people vary according to many factors. One of these factors is the genes. For many years, scientists have studied separately the human body and nutrition in order to better understand diseases and how are they related to diet. However, in the recent years, scientists have studied simultaneously the relationship of these two fields, and the result was the creation of nutrigenomics.
Nutrigenomics is a new branch of science that studies the relationship between the human body and the nutrition consumed. The research includes the reaction of human genes to the nutrients fed into such body. The aim of nutrigenomics is not only to devise the most ideal nutritional diet of one person based on his genes, but also to find a solution to the health problems we, humans, face throughout the life course, including cardiovascular diseases, obesity and weight-related diseases, diabetes, ageing process, beauty and skin, and more.
Scientists who are involved in this study examine the ways by which nutrition influences health by impacting genes on a molecular level. Nutrigenomics also aims to understand how nutrients and food can be applied to different genes to counter predisposition to disease, particularly if an individual’s genetic composition puts him or her at higher risks of developing diseases.
The impact of Nutrigenomics on an individual’s health is enormous, and so is on public health. At times, for lack of better alternatives, the recommendations issued by government entities related to public health are one-size-fits all. But, as mentioned earlier, all individuals do not have uniform needs when it comes to nutrition. Also, not everyone has similar reactions to a particular diet.
Hence, even if a low-fat diet can have many advantages, not everyone will benefit from it. Inversely, not everyone who eats a high-fat diet will develop a heart disease. Conversely, some people may have a rise in their blood pressure just by looking at a steak soaked in butter. With nutrigenomics, however, pharmaceuticals and other health care providers will have better and in-depth knowledge on how a certain group of people responds to a particular group of fatty acids or antioxidants to combat a genetic condition.
The food industry is also using genomics to best serve a certain group of individuals. For instance, a food manufacturer specializing in cereals may come up with a breakfast cereal enhanced with the needed proteins and market it to people with type II diabetes, after associating such disease with defective genetic regulation of several proteins. Defective genetic regulation of proteins resulting to having type II diabetes occurs from 30-40% of the population.
Nutrigenomics have been manifested in some products sold at the market like cheese enriched with omega-3 fatty acids, iced tea powder or orange juice with fortified vitamin C. This branch of science enables nutrition and medical specialists to custom-made products based on genetic makeup of an individual or group of individuals.
