Toby Keith has worked his way to becoming a heavyweight in the country music scene, and on his way to the top, he has raked in many country music awards. He is poised to add more to his collection on June 9 at the 2010 CMT Music Awards in Nashville. Keith is up for two different awards, both for his hit “American Ride.”

He is up for Video of the Year against Carrie Underwood (“Cowboy Brand Viagra Casanova”), Lady Antebellum (“Need You Now”), Kenny Chesney (“Out Last Night), Keith Urban (“‘Til Summer Comes Around), Zac Brown Band (“Toes”), Jason Aldean (“The Truth”), Brad Paisley (“Welcome to the Future”), Miranda Lambert (“White Liar”) and Taylor Swift (“You Belong with Me”). He is also nominated for Male Video of the Year against the same songs by Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley as well as Tim McGraw (“Southern Voice”), Billy Currington (“People Are Crazy”) and Darius Rucker (“Alright”).

Toby Keith fans were likely all ears on April 15, when the Biography Channel featured an episode on Toby Keith. The program followed Keith from his early years as an unknown all the way to a country superstar. The hour-long documentary showed Keith as both an innovator and a controversial figure. Keith wasn’t the only country star featured on the Biography Channel in April, as the channel also had documentaries on Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney.
This summer, Toby Keith will take his incredible show on the road, which will be one of the most exciting shows out there. He will be hitting dates from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between. He will be part of the incredibly popular Stagecoach Country Music Festival at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif. on April 25. For his summer tour, Toby Keith will be taking along up-and-comer James Otto, who is known for singles like “Just Got Started Lovin’ You” and “Groovy Little Summer Song.”

Otto talked to The Boot about touring with Keith and said, “Toby has always been an artist I look up to and respect in our industry. From being a great entertainer, to songwriter to businessman, he has done it all with his own style and with big time success. Keith has other focuses on top of his storied music career. From May 21-22, Keith will be hosting a charity golf tournament in Norman, Okla. There will be a live auction along with the golf tournament, with signed items by stars like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Trace Adkins. The charity event will benefit the Toby Keith Foundation and its work with the Oklahoma University Medical Center to build a 16-room building to house pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Keith also has a string of restaurants called Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill. He already has locations in Las Vegas, Nev.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Kansas City, Mo.; Mesa, Ariz.; Tulsa, Okla.; Thackerville, Okla. and Auburn Hills, Mich. with more locations opening around the country.
