Unveiling The Brand New Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible
The new 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible is the fastest Bentley convertible ever and Bentley claims that it is also the worlds fastest four seat convertible available. Able to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 202 mph, the Continental Supersports Convertible is one ultra-fast luxury car. Bentley dealers should have no trouble selling this incredible piece of machinery when it hits their showrooms in the coming months.
Bentley debuted this convertible version of last years Supersports Coupe this month at the Geneva Auto Show. The two vehicles are nearly identical, but the convertible top on the newest model makes the car 198 pounds lighter than the coupe. The Supersports has a smoked steel finish, similar to that of a luxury watch, on the vents, radiator and lower grille and all are finished with a physical vapor deposition (PVD). Bentley claims that this process deposits vaporized metal on stainless steel surfaces for additional protection and that the Supersports is the first vehicle to have an application of PVD. This is unique because the PVD process is generally used in the manufacture of electronic components, not cars.
As for the cars performance, Bentley pulled out all the stops by installing Levitra a 6 litre W-12 engine which includes twin turbos. An upgrade to the all-wheel-drive package results in 621 horsepower and 590 pounds of torque. Unlike many luxury cars with a sporty appearance, the Supersports Tadacip is built for speed, as evidence by the 0 to 60 mph time and the top speed. In addition, the engine is coupled with a revised ZF six-speed Quickshift automatic transmission and can run on either E85 ethanol or petrol, showing that the car is definitely not just for looks.
With this in mind, it does not mean that Bentley has neglected the appearance of the Continental Supersports Convertible. The car includes 20 inch, 10 spoke alloys that are 5.5 pounds lighter than the coupes wheels, with the standard tyres being 275/35ZR20 Pirelli high performance models. On top of that, new carbon-ceramic brakes have been added to the car which reduces the overall weight by 44 pounds and to assist in keeping the tyres in contact with the road during high-performance driving, two inches were added to the rear track width. The suspension system has also been re-tuned for better performance over the Supersports Coupe.
The interior boasts Alcantara and soft-grip leather, a cockpit trimmed in satin-finish carbon fibre, a Convenience Package which includes adaptive cruise control, front seat massage, a rearview camera and an iPod jack and Sparco bucket seats replace the standard Bentley seats, which saves the car about 100 pounds. These are not typical performance seats, though, as they are covered in diamond-quilted Alcantara accents.
The 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible will be available from Bentley dealers in the summer of 2010. Bentley has not released details about the cars fuel economy as of yet, but with an asking price that starts at around 150,000 pounds, it is a safe bet that potential buyers are not too concerned about how many miles they will get out of the Supersports tank.
