Visiting Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City is an exciting place with many attractions. Located near the Wasatch Mountains, there are several ski resorts in the Salt Lake area.
Utah is known for having the “Greatest Snow on Earth” and thousands of people come from all over the world each winter to experience the slopes. Among skiing and snowboarding, the ski resorts have many other activities for visitors, such as outdoor concerts, festivals, and much more.
There are also hiking trails in the beautiful, scenic mountains near Salt Lake. One of the most exciting attractions in downtown is Temple Square.
When the Latter Day Saint Pioneers settled in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847 one of their first priorities was to build a temple where they could worship. After 40 years of hard labor, the Salt Lake LDS Temple was finished.
It stands today in the heart of the city and is visited by hundreds of LDS members each day. Around the temple are beautiful gardens that anyone can visit, as well as a visitor’s center that includes history of the LDS church and of the Salt Lake Valley itself.
For those who enjoy shopping, the Gateway mall is also located in downtown Salt Lake City. The mall has a movie theatre and restaurants that provide for a fun evening out on the town.
The Gateway Mall hosts different activities each year, including a sidewalk chalk festival where local artists can come and share their art with the community while helping to raise money for foster children. For visitors with children, this city also has a zoo and an aviary.
The Hogle Zoo is a fun place where kids can see real animals and learn about them. They also have daily bird shows and a butterfly house.
The Tracy Aviary is an exciting outdoor exhibit devoted solely to birds. It is a great place for kids to learn about the local fauna.
Salt Lake City also has the Clark Planetarium which is a popular attraction for all ages. One of the favorite attractions at the planetarium is their light shows which they do to popular music.
They also show entertaining and educational movies about our galaxy. For adventure seekers, the Lagoon amusement park is located just twenty minutes north of downtown Salt Lake City.
Featuring many rides that twist and turn, it is a favorite among visitors and locals. Inside of the park is Pioneer Village which is a fun place for those with weaker stomachs.
Lagoon has performers that sing anything from popular music to songs from Broadway musicals. They also do fantastic firework displays for both the 4th of July and the 24th of July.
Also inside Lagoon is Lagoon-a-Beach Cialis which includes many water slides which are perfect for a hot summer day. For those who just want to relax, there is also a lazy river.
Other places for water lovers include Cherry Hill and Layton Surf N’ Swim. Cherry Hill has water slides and an area built specifically for children so it is fun for the whole family.
Layton Surf N’ Swim is a wave pool that adds excitement to just another day at the pool. The Utah State Capitol building is located on the hill in downtown. Daily tours are given of the magnificent building.
With Roman style architecture and elaborate stone work, the Capitol building is an intriguing place to visit. It also contains many paintings which are a draw to the artistic Tadalis SX audience.
For those visiting during the Halloween season, Utah has several Haunted houses including Frightmares at Lagoon, Nightmare on 13th, and the Haunted Forest in American Fork, which is about a half an hour south of Salt Lake City. For those who want a Halloween thrill, Nightmare on 13th has new Halloweeny additions each year.
For those who just want a little spook, Frightmares or the Haunted Forest is a lot of fun. In addition to haunted houses, the Thanksgiving Point corn maze has haunted and non-haunted sections and is fun for dates or for an evening out with the family.
Also at Thanksgiving Point is the Museum of Ancient Life and Farm Country for the kids; and a movie theatre with a giant screen and little shops for the adults. Each year Thanksgiving Point holds a tulip festival where visitors can tour their vast gardens.
Also a popular venue for concerts, Thanksgiving Point has many attractions. Have a great time in Salt Lake City, you are sure to find something to keep you entertained in this beautiful city!
