Weezer Tickets – Weezer Pairs with Ryan Adams for New Song
Weezer is currently in the midst of recording a new album, the follow-up to 2009’s Raditude, and frontman Rivers Cuomo revealed an exciting collaboration to MTV on June 23. Speaking to MTV Radio, Cuomo hinted, “I don’t know what I’m supposed to say here, so I’m going to keep my mouth shut. But, uh, people are going to be hearing new music soon.”
He added, “I just wrote a song with Ryan Adams. Not Bryan, Ryan. It’s a very stirring and emotional and powerful Kamagra Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with…He has a lot of wild and crazy energy. It’s gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record for sure.”
While Cuomo remained tight-lipped about when fans can expect Weezer’s forthcoming new album, the band did just released a new song called “Represent.” The unofficial anthem for the U.S. Men’s World Cup team was released on June 11, and it is fitting that Weezer would release a song honoring the team, as Cuomo is an immense soccer fan and has been following the 2010 FIFA World Cup closely.
Featuring the chorus: “It matters how you play the game / It matters that you can take the pain / You don’t wanna lie, steal or cheat your way to the top ohhh / It matters what your people think / You represent your family / But that’s just one more reason to see it matters whether you win or lose,” the motivational track was released just before the U.S. kicked off its World Cup run against England on June 12. According to MTV.com, the U.S. soccer team tweeted that it added “Represent” to its pre-game playlist after hearing the first-pumping track!
Although Weezer has a new album in the works, the band has cut ties with former label Geffen Records and has yet to make a decision about how it will release the forthcoming effort. Weezer bassist Scott Shriner spoke with Billboard.com from the Bonnaroo Music Festival before the band’s June 12 headlining appearance at the Manchester, Tenn. music fest: “We’re always planning and scheming something. We’re always working on some new music. I can’t really go into any detail about that yet, but we’re all writing and working on new stuff.”
In addition to Bonnaroo, Weezer will play at other summer music festivals like the Ottawa Bluesfest, Halifax Rocks, the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival and the Mile High Music Festival, where the band will share the bill with Jack Johnson, the Dave Matthews Band and My Morning Jacket.
In addition to festival appearances, Weezer has more than a dozen concert dates lined up for the coming months, which means fans will want to get their hands on Weezer tickets, which are available online.
Fans are happy to see Weezer back on the road after Cuomo suffered from three broken ribs when the band’s tour Viagra Jelly bus crashed on Dec. 6, 2009. Shriner told Billobard.com that Cuomo is “100 percent again,” adding, “He’s strong a ready to do. He’s a tough little dude, man. That guy bounces back pretty quick.”
