2010 Mighty Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans have started to make an irreversible comeback–going into the 2010 season as one of the NFL’s most valuable teams once again. This comes after a dismal 0-6 start last year, but with a far better later season. With an average of 27 points each game last season, and an offense to the tune of 375 yards, the Titans are making it perfectly clear that they mean business this year.
The venerable Jeff Fisher continues as the teams fearless coach, Mike Heimerdinger is still making great strides with the offensive line, and Jeff Washburn has the (what some would call) dream-team of a defensive line this go-’round. Washburn admits that his cornerback and defensive ends are the most vulnerable coming into the 2010 season, but he’s almost certainly annihilated that vulnerability with the addition of Derrick Morgan-a real powerhouse at 12 sacks and better-than average passer rate.
The edition of Georgia Tech’s Derrick Morgan, early-on in the very first round of pickings, surely had coaches Fisher and Washburn giddy as hell; after all, most people would be. He’s one of the highest-valued defensive ends currently in the NFL right now. He’s certainly a breath of fresh air with Bosch, Vickerson and J. Kearse out of the picture.
Other notable drafts were made:
* The addition of USC’s Damian Williams to the receiving line was pretty interesting, and a great bet for Fisher. He will accompany Kenny Britt, Justin Gage and Nate Washington on the team.
* Myron Rolle of Florida State is a very-well, interesting pick for strong safety-for the Titans. His scholastic achievements are undeniable, but he’s going to have to really push to get himself kick-started after a break.
* Lendale White is gone, due to character concerns, and replaced with Montana’s Marc Mariani– whose addition to the team has drawn about an equal amount of praise as it has dismay-being that he’s a relatively unknown player. The season, however, will tell his net worth and he’ll most likely spend the majority of his first NFL days on the Titan’s special teams.
Another touchdown for the Titans is Rusty Smith. The Florida Atlantic draft was picked in round six as a quarterback. He’s a Florida Atlantic record holder and has an excellent 8100+ yards, coupled with 62 touchdowns and almost 8000 yards of rushing passes. Any football team, NFL or NCAA, would be lucky to have Smith as their QB-in my opinion.
