Creativity: Balancing Inspiration With Solitude
If you’re like most people, you’re at your most creative in a calm, quiet environment. You may have some soft music playing in the background, but a relaxing environment is conducive to your creativity. You can sit and focus, letting the ideas rise up on their own.
However, you may also come up with some of your best ideas during brainstorming sessions with friends or colleagues, when you’re out and about running errands, or under the pressure of an eminent deadline. Sometimes you use that spark of inspiration from other people, movies, and personal experiences as a springboard to creative improvement.
So the creative paradox is presented: Seclusion vs. Participation. Do you lock yourself up – as many of the great minds of the past have done – working furiously in pursuit of your magnum opus? Or do you spend your time with friends, family, and coworkers, gleaning nuggets of inspiration from the world around out?
The answer is both. Finding a balance will bring you the best of both worlds. And here are some ways to make the most of your creative processes – both in private and in public.
* Set aside specific times for each. Sudden inspiration can come anywhere and at anytime. But on top of that, you should have a little bit of time each day devoted to creative pursuits.
* Seek Brand Cialis out all types of inspiration. People can be inspired and your creative mind may be triggered by anything – books, adults, kids, paintings, street art, dancing, podcasts, trash, grass, sounds, poetry, etc. Don’t limit yourself to just one or two.
* Have fun. Brainstorming doesn’t have to be a dreaded experience. Seek out enjoyment and creativity is often not far behind.
* Try not to get frustrated. Getting into the habit of creativity may be tough at first, but keep at it. And even after months or years, you will have days or weeks where it seems like little progress is made. Don’t give up.
* Sometimes it’s just about the process. The result of a session of intentional creativity may not end the way you wanted it to, but simply participating in a creative effort will benefit you in the long run.
* Use criticism. It may come from you, and it may come from others; but being willing to accept criticism and effectively apply it in your life and in your creative process can make a world of difference.
There are plenty of other ways out there to increase your creativity and creatively solve problems. Establish a good foundation – with both personal, private, reflective creativity and public, group, raucous imagination. You’ll be amazed at the results.
