Detroit Lions Tickets – Lions Top of Draft Class in NFC North

April is always a big month for teams in the National Football League, since all eyes are trained on the NFL Draft. As the dust settles after the scramble for new talent, each team’s picks are dissected and rated. The Lions finished at the bottom of the NFC North last season in what everyone assumed would be a building year. The construction of a new team remains a top priority for the Motown team, and a big part of that was the 2010 NFL Draft. The Lions took charge and impressed in the 2010 NFL Draft, earning top marks from analysts.

The Lions beat out the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears for the top marks in the NFC North. They used their first pick wisely, selecting Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh with the second overall pick. The Lions’ defense struggled throughout the 2009 season, and Suh could bring some needed intimidation. The Lions had a second first-round pick through trades and selected California running back Jahvid Best with the 30th overall pick. The Lions selected quarterback Matthew Stafford with last year’s first pick, and Best will help his game by creating more of a ground game for the Lions.

To get the second first-round pick, the Lions traded their second-round pick to the Vikings. The action started back up in the third round when the Lions picked up Iowa cornerback Amari Spievey with the 66th overall pick. They again turned toward offense for their fourth-round pick, selecting Miami Levitra offensive tackle Jason Fox 128th overall. In the later rounds, they selected North Carolina State defensive end Willie Young and Weber State wide receiver Tim Toone. The new players are sure to make Detroit Lions tickets even more popular, and fans can reserve a spot by buying tickets online today.

As for the rest of the NFC North, the Green Bay Packers ranked just behind the Lions. They were praised for their first pick-Iowa offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga (23rd overall pick)-but their next two picks weren’t as strong. They picked up Purdue defensive tackle Mike Neal in the second round (56th overall) and Georgia Tech strong safety Morgan Burnett in the third round (71st overall). With those picks, the Packers worked on both sides of the ball and are looking to challenge for the top spot in the division this year.

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t have a first round pick, but they had two picks in the second round. They picked Virginia cornerback Chris Cook with the 34th overall pick and Stanford running back Toby Gerhart with the 51st overall pick. They also gave up their third round pick and selected Southern California defensive end Everson Griffen in the fourth round.

The Chicago Bears rounded out the NFC North list at the bottom, mostly because they weren’t big player in this year’s draft. They traded away their top two picks, but they did well with their first pick in the third round. The Bears picked up Florida free safety Major Wright with the 75th overall pick, and he should be a top contender for a starting spot.
