Drinking Up in Denver

Denver is a great place to visit any time of the year. There are many things to see and do in the area.

The restaurants and luxury life in town are notably fantastic. Here is a list of popular bars and hang outs after you are done adventuring during the day.

For all of these, you can wear comfortable walking shoes. Since they are all located conveniently in the Denver area, you can travel even from one to the other until you have had your fill.

Most of them do not involve a cover charge except for Dulcinea’s and Sancho’s Broken Arrow. Some even have an attached motel or hail a cab service for you to get safely home if you over do it.

The Red Room Restaurant and Bar is a great choice that used to be part of Mayor John Hickenlooper’s brewpub empire. Now he has turned it over to another owner since he has been elected.

Beer and politics are still a common mix at the Red Room as it is located just steps away from the Capitol Building. It is a fun atmosphere that offers live music every Thursday and Saturday night.

Another great option is Cheeky Monk Belgian Beer Cafe which will help you embrace the mountain scene around you. It has traditional entrees such as mussels and croquet monsieur mixed with its fine Belgian ale.

The Belgian waffles come with your choice of nutella or cream cheese icing. Belgian beers on tap include Stella Artois and Shimay Triple.

This is a one of a kind Belgian escape that has been named The Cheeky Monk in honor of Trappist beers brewed by monks in Belgium. It is located on Colfax Ave.

Next, there is Dulcinea’s 100th Monkey which has been hosting live music on Colfax Ave. for over seven years. It was named after a fictional character in “Don Quixote.”

Dulcinea’s was founded by three brothers who were all dedicated to Deadheads. The bar offers a standard line up of beers on tap, but there is no kitchen service.

Minimal cover charge is required for live musical performances. This Tadalis SX is a great experience you will not want to miss.

Another great place is known as Sancho’s Broken Arrow. It is the brother bar to Dulcinea’s; it also offers live music nightly for a minimal cover charge and has no kitchen service.

For more of an Irish pub feel, try out the Irish Snug, a dark wood paneling and lack of windows give it a rainy Ireland touch to escape for the night from the sunny Denver. It features many Irish beers such as Guiness and Harp on tap as well as many other fine whiskies.

The next bar is called Pete’s Satire Lounge, which is a traditional and historic bar. It has been in business since 1945 and features a reliable and trendy ambience with Mexican food and standard beers on tap.

For more of a southwestern atmosphere, trail on over to Mezcal Denver which features both top shelf mescals and tequilas. It also has a full menu of Mexican food.

Also, the Atomic Cowboy offers pool tables and urban cowgirls. This bar and lounge also carries a variety of board games on the weekends and for late night munchies over some fun, friendly competition.

Another option is the Bank Bar and Grill. It does not cater to high finance types in suits as its name may suggest.

Rather, it is a sports bar on Colfax which offers plenty of TVs to catch a glimpse of the big games during the pub crawl. It is a very fun and relaxed atmosphere to unwind.

Lastly, there is the Rockbar which was the ingenious idea of the All In Motel. They decided to turn the first floor into a bar for a convenient stay.

However, it is a restful place, but also an energetic dance floor on Saturday nights. This one is definitely an all inclusive stay.

Denver is a beautiful and exciting place full of day time adventure and a hopping nightlife. Be sure you do not miss out on all of these bar locations.

They are all located on Colfax Ave. for a convenient selection. Check them out in Denver the next time you are in town.
