Eminem has managed to stay on top of the Billboard charts with his latest album, Recovery. It’s his fifth consecutive solo album to reach the number one spot; certainly an impressive position to be in and one that the rapper undoubtedly hopes to build upon.

Eminem started building his reputation in the music industry with the release of The Slim Shady EP. The effort caught the attention of executives at Interscope Records and the partnership resulted in the full-length studio album called The Slim Shady, which dropped in 1999. The accompanying single “My Name Is” was an instant blockbuster hit on the radio and was soon receiving both praise and criticism for the controversial lyrical content of his tracks, most of which included violent fantasies and parodies aimed at family members and various celebrities.
