Encouraging Children to Exercise
Children are full of energy and very active. Sometimes you may feel like you need a break or you may wish that you knew of some way to use up that energy.
Exercise is an excellent way for children to use up their extra energy and help them develop habits to stay fit later in life. There are many creative ways that children exercise that may not be generally thought of.
One way to encourage the entire family to exercise is to invest in a pedometer for each person. Compare the number of steps each family member has taken to see who has the most.
Make the stakes higher by saying that the loser will do the winner’s chores the next day. Motivated by this challenge, your children will seek exercise on their own.
Another way to encourage exercise is to spend some time shooting hoops when you come home from work. You could use the exercise too.

Another great game that involves a lot of walking is golf. This will give your children and opportunity to be out of doors and doing something they probably have never done before.
Miniature golfing is also fun. It is also probably more their size as well.
Tennis is a very fun family activity. There may be many missed balls at first, but practice makes perfect and a game of tennis much more of a workout than it may look like at first.
Bowling is a great sport for developing hand-eye coordination. This game is designed more for older children, but younger children will have a lot of fun with the gutter guards up.
If you want to keep your daughter occupied for a while, show her how to twirl a baton and then let her go practice. Combined with an imagination and this activity will take hours.
Another great activity for keeping your children occupied is to sign them up for a martial arts class. They will learn how to defend themselves, and they will have a lot of fun exercising.
You may want to consider providing the supplies for fort building and letting your children go at it. It will take a while to build the fort and then they will have a lot fun play imaginative games such as cowboys and Indians in it.
Encouraging creativity and exercise at the same time is an excellent thing if you can do it. Mothers also love to incorporate chores.
If the home is messy, send your children to put various items away. This will especially give them a lot of exercise if your home is two-stories.
Enlist them to help you with other chores as well such as vacuuming, washing windows, cleaning a room, mowing, and so forth. Instead of chasing after your children to clean up messes, they will help you achieve your goals.
