If you are looking for pieces of history, there are many buildings which have been landmarks in Provo for hundreds of years. The Provo Tabernacle on University Avenue was built in 1883, and is absolutely stunning-its brick work, stained glass, woodwork, and magnificent pipe organ are worth a trip to see.
The Provo City library is a another building which stands as an example of the rich cultural history of the city. It was founded in 1905, but was built in 1892, by Don Carlos Young, son of Brigham Young.
It originally functioned as the Brigham Young Academy, a school for a limited number of students. As they expanded, they became BYU, and the old academy building became the library.
Another fun thing to see is Bridal Veil Falls, a beautiful waterfall which runs year round, from the majestic Timpanogas mountain range. There is a lovely path through the trees by the river’s edge, which leads you to the spectacular view.
If you want to travel a little ways outside of Provo, the Living Planet Aquarium is a fun way to explore the mysteries of the ocean for the whole family. It is pretty spacious, and is always expanding its exhibits.
See fish, penguins, corals, octopi, and even a sting ray petting area. You can handle the rays, both big and small-a truly unforgettable experience.
There is a cafe where you can enjoy lunch, or just a little snack. The admission is not very expensive, and well worth the trip.
The Brigham Young University campus itself is a fun place to explore. The bookstore is very large, and has something for everyone.
The buildings are very beautiful, and the campus has even been named the most beautiful campus in the United States. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, and you could get lost in the expansive library for hours.
Take a guided tour, or explore the area for yourself. The Monty Bean museum is located on campus, and is a wonderful natural history museum.
There are live shows to see, and two floors of countless animals and scenes to explore. If you aren’t a huge museum fan and want a little more adventure, try Utah Lake, just a few miles down Provo Center street.
You can rent boats, sailing equipment, canoes, kayaks, and more to explore the large lake which expands over the Utah valley. The hot summers make the water feel warm, and the sun never stops shining.
Another way to stay cool is Seven Peaks water park. Located right in the heart of Provo, this fun family park features several rides, a wave pool, hot tubs, a lazy river, and more.
There is always some adventure to be found, and a day can easily be enjoyed in the warm waters. The whole family will find something to do.
However, if you are not visiting in the summer, there are plenty of winter activities to explore as well. Sundance Resort is Kamagra Soft just a few miles outside Provo, and is a beautiful retreat founded by Robert Redford.
There is an expansive ski resort attached, which has beautifully groomed slopes. The resort itself is a beautiful place to stay, and offers all different types and levels of lodging.
There is full moon snowshoeing offered for a very good price, and features a walk in the moonlight with an experienced guide. If Sundance isn’t the resort for you, there are a dozen other world-famous ski and snowboard resorts within an hour’s drive from Provo.
If that’s not enough, there are a number of other entertainment options, including Thanksgiving Point, the Freedom Festival, the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake, and of course, the world famous Temple Square. There are plays, orchestras, outdoor movies, and more.
You may think Provo is just a little dot on the map, but there are countless ways to make a fun vacation within its city limits. Check it out!
