How To Have A Memorable And Safe Prom Night
I have extremely fond memories of both my junior and senior prom nights. Both times, I loved my dress, I had a great hairstyle, and my dates were friendly and fun. There are certainly a few things I would change, however. Let me share with you some of the things that made my prom wonderful–and some of the things that would have made them even better.
One of the best things you can do is prepare early. That does not mean you necessarily should buy your dress six months in advance or make reservations the year before–but you should probably begin budgeting.
My parents wanted me to finance much of my senior prom on m own steam, so I began considering costs several months before the big night and set aside a little bit from every paycheck so that I could shoulder that burden. This also meant that I was able to splurge a little extra cash on new makeup and beautiful shoes I wouldn’t have been able to afford otherwise.
Make sure that your date is someone you consider a good friend who will put as much effort into having a great time as you. I had a few friends No prescription cialis that went with casual acquaintances, and those boys ended up ditching their dates repeatedly. One even left the prom to go bowling.
Not only does going with an acquaintance put a potential damper on the entire night, it could also be unsafe. While going with anyone can pose a slight risk, incidences of date rape are higher when you do not know the person well.
Lay out your expectations with your date. Teenage boys can be all raging hormones, and they may expect more out of the date than you are willing to give. So make it clear from the beginning that you want to go with them to dine, dance, take pictures, and perhaps hang out in a secure location with other friends after the dance is over.
I highly recommend renting a limo or other stylish car to transport you to and from the event. Not only will this make the entire event a little more fun for everyone, it is an additional safety measure.
My junior year, my date and I rode along with my best friend and her date. As it turned out, he was a very unsafe driver, and we had no way to tell if he had been drinking, which seemed likely based on some later behavior. Yikes!
Don’t drink. You may think you “deserve to have a good time,” but nothing makes you entitled to break the law and school policy. I’m definitely glad that I didn’t! While others were getting into trouble, I was dancing the night away with my friends.
