Living The London City Lifestyle But Need To Get Fit? It’s Easy When You Know How
Supposedly the city that is paved with gold, it seems that everyone in London is constantly rushing around, so busy with their own working and social lives that they struggle to notice what’s going on around them – and more often than not, what’s going on with their personal life and health.
If you want to get fit but live in London and don’t think it’s a real possibility, then you’re mistaken – and these points give you 3 examples of how you can get fit whilst living in one of the busiest cities in the world.
1. Ditch the tube – the tube is arguably the UK’s best piece of transport technology and allows you to travel from one part of London to the other, relatively quickly and inexpensively.
For all of its graces, Silagra however, it has made a lot of Londoner’s lazy, as it has encouraged people to stop walking and simply jump on the tube, regardless of the length of their journey.
Used a lot of the time for convenience, a great way to lose weight and get healthy is to stop using the tube and walk. London is a particularly compact city and you can generally walk anywhere in the city centre within 30 minutes.
It’s understood that some people can’t ditch the tube entirely and therefore you should look at your journey and see if you can change where you normally get off. For example, if you’re going to Covent Garden and travel past Leicester Square, get off at Leicester Square instead. The stations are only 260 metres apart, which will take you less than 5 minutes to walk – and that’s if you dawdle along.
2. Make your own lunch – part of being a young, city professional living in London might be going out to ‘do lunch’ each and every day, paying over the odds for a sandwich that is high in saturated fats and contains too many carbohydrates, whilst washing it down with a takeout coffee that is full of cream and sugar.
There’s no need to not go out for lunch at all during the week, but consider making your own lunch at least half of the week – it will not only be healthier, but it will also save you a lot of money.
3. Make time to go to a London gym – one of the easiest ways to lose weight in the city is to sign up to a London gym. The problem is, however, that most don’t feel they have the time to go on a regular basis, so although they start out well, they struggle to make the commitment of going two or three times a week.
The truth is, most people do have the time – they just don’t think they do.
Look at your diary and find out when you have free time. Free time is anything other than work or regular appointments that you can’t afford to miss, which doesn’t include social appointments.
Now, look at how much time you have free and what you are doing before them – chances are it’s going to be work. Therefore, look for a London gym close to your work, drop any social meetings that you had should your gym time overlap and pencil the time in for the coming 12 weeks at least (by the end of these 12 weeks, generally speaking you’ll have gotten into a routine of going to the gym and will no longer need to pencil it in your diary to ensure that you stick to it).
