Miami Heat Tickets – Heat Continue to Make Solid Moves
After Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade all signed on the dotted line with the Miami Heat, the rest of the NBA world began speculating that they would have a hard time pulling together the rest of a roster. Well, those issues have proven to be somewhat unfounded as the Heat have now brought back Udonis Haslem and coaxed Mike Miller to join in as well. If the Heat also land center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, something that seems very likely, the team will have the type of roster that could be in the early stages of an historic dynasty.
Most of the talk about the Heat, quite obviously, has involved the new Big Three. But no matter how good the Big Three truly is, they still would have a significant problem beating deep teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, a team filled with strong role players around their stars Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. With Haslem and Miller, however, the Heat now are in shape to have one of the best six-man rotations in basketball history.
What the Heat absolutely do not need outside the Big Three would be another superstar persona, which is why signing Haslem and Miller makes so much sense. After struggling early in his career, it appeared that Haslem might be destined for Europe or possibly even the D-League. Instead, Haslem put in the work to refine his game and drop some weight, which has allowed him to be an important part of the recent Heat title run. Haslem is the type of grinder who will help the Heat with loose balls, rebounding and defense – three things that you need to be able to do fairly well to win an NBA championship.
In addition to good rebounding and defense, the Heat also needed to find a couple of sharpshooters that could help with spacing. Though Mike Miller won’t sell many Miami Heat tickets, he will help them win basketball games. Miller is in a great position to be the potential Sixth Man of the Year next season as he should get plenty of open looks coming off the bench. With LeBron and Wade likely to play well over 40 minutes a game, the Heat will be able to get Miller open looks at will even if he doesn’t start. When on the floor, Miller should provide an instant spark and will extend the defense, which will only make it even easier for Wade and LeBron to get to the cup.
The other option for the Heat will be to start Miller at the three and slide LeBron to the point. Though Mario Chalmers is a decent young point guard, LeBron has the unique ability to both score and run the offense. Playing LeBron at the point would allow Miller to have an even greater impact, and would probably make the Heat even more un-guardable. Even if the Heat do stick with Chalmers at point, the Heat will likely slide LeBron to the point at various times when Chalmers heads to the bench.
What’s perhaps most impressive about the team, though, is how selfless everyone has been thus far. LeBron could have gone to another team where he would have been the unquestioned number one option. Instead, he went to Miami to join two superstars that will demand the ball early and often, which will allow LeBron to show more of his uncanny ability to distribute the basketball. It’s odd to say, but the scoring he provides will almost be a bonus.
But the team didn’t really come together until they brought Haslem and Miller on board. Both need to be commended for putting winning first, particularly when so many athletes don’t. Reports are that Haslem left $14 million on the table to join with the Big Three instead of heading to a team like the Nuggets or the Mavericks. Miller also stated earlier that he would be willing to accept less money to join a contender, and he certainly found a contender in Miami. The Heat would probably have had difficulty winning with the Big Three and subpar role players, but thanks to Haslem and Miller, they shouldn’t have to find that out the hard way.
