1. Banff – located in Alberta, Banff is the oldest National Park in Canada, established in 1885 and covers 2,564 square miles.

2. Yoho – only a year younger than Banff, Yoho was founded in 1886 and covers 507 sq/mi of land in British Columbia.

3. Glacier – similar to Yoho in every respect, Glacier was established in the same year, covers just over 500 square miles (521 to be precise) and is located in British Columbia.

4. Waterton Lakes – covering 195 sq/m of Alberta, Waterton Lakes were founded in 1895 and was the last National Park to be founded in the 19th century.

5. St Lawrence Islands – the smallest of all the Canadian National Parks, St Lawrence Islands was established in 1904 and covers a mere 3 sq/mi of Ontario.

6. Jasper -established in 1907, Jasper is situated in Alberta and makes up a particularly expansive 4,200 square miles.

7. Elk Islands – also in Alberta, Elk Island’s 75 square mile of land was established as a National Park in 1913.

8. Mount Revelstoke – a British Columbian National Park, Mount Revelstoke was founded in 1914 and stretches over 100 sq/mi.

9. Point Pelee – another tiny National Park, Point Pelee is only 6 square miles of land and was founded in Ontario in 1918.

10. Kootenay – stretching for 543 sq/mi, Kootenay was established in 1920 and can be found in British Columbia.

11. Wood Buffalo – 4 years after one of the smallest National Parks was founded, Wood Buffalo was established, which is the largest National Park anywhere in Canada and covers 17,300 square miles in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

12. Prince Albert – Saskatchewan’s first National Park, was founded in 1927 and extends over 1,496 sq/mi.

13. Georgian Bay Islands – another tiny Ontario National Park, Georgian Bay Islands cover 5 square miles and were established in 1929.

14. Riding Mountain – the first National Park of Manitoba, Riding Mountain was founded in 1933 and stretches for 1,148 sq/mi.

15. Cape Breton Highlands – 3 years after Manitoba’s first National Park was established, Nova Scotia established their first park, Cape Breton Highlands, in 1936, which extends across 366 square miles.

16. Prince Edward Island – located on Prince Edward Island itself, the National Park covers 8 sq/mi and was established in 1937, the last before the Second World War.

20. Kouchibouguac – the second of New Brunswick’s National Parks was founded in 1969, 21 years after the first and covers 92 sq/mi.
