NASCAR Nationwide Series Tickets – Danica Patrick Juggles NASCAR and IRL
Danica Patrick is caught in limbo between the very different worlds of IndyCar and NASCAR, and the Silagra road to the rest of the season won’t be an easy one for racing’s golden girl. All eyes are on the GoDaddy girl as she strives to compete with NASCAR’s elite in the Nationwide Series this summer, and so far she’s taken a lot of heat for a very subpar year in the IRL while running both racing series. Patrick’s foray into NASCAR hasn’t been as fruitful as her followers would like, but will she take the next step to go full-force into NASCAR next year and ditch the IndyCar Series for good?
That’s the question of the summer as the racing realm reacts to Danica Patrick’s dual circuits in 2010, and so far it looks like she’s more wanted even at this point in NASCAR than she is in the IRL. Patrick is currently (as of July 13) in 11th place in driver standings in the IndyCar Series going into the Honda Indy Toronto while barely placing in Nationwide, but her crossover status has turned some IRL fans off this season.
At this point in the year, Patrick is certainly not running her best in the IRL yet still hasn’t successfully maneuvered the ins and outs of NASCAR. Her Nationwide debut has been less than ideal, but the way it looks now she might be leaning toward going all the way into NASCAR as early as next year.
After a disappointing run in the Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen in July, Patrick’s team owner Michael Andretti spoke to Fox News about her running both NASCAR and IndyCar circuits this year. Andretti said, “I’m a little concerned. I think it’s tough for her to do. I think to be good in any one of these series anymore, you have to be in it 24-7. From that standpoint, I think it’s probably not as healthy for her.”
From these words, Danica Patrick looks to have a tough decision before her – does she return to the IRL and lick her wounds next season or will she disregard all criticism and keep going in NASCAR? Patrick is still staying positive about her Nationwide Series experience this year, chalking it all up to a learning experience.
Earlier this season, Patrick told USA Today, “I’m not lighting the world on fire by any means. I just have a lot to learn. I’m learning with people watching, which is hard, but that’s the way it is. I’m lucky that people are watching.”
And people certainly are watching. With her further infiltration into NASCAR, Danica Patrick is sure to have even more of a platform for a larger audience, and she’s definitely helped to sell NASCAR Nationwide Series tickets this year. Wins or no wins, Danica Patrick will continue to be a top star on the racing circuit no matter if she stays with IndyCar or launches a full-fledged attack on NASCAR next year.
