NFL Tickets – The AFC East is Stacked in 2010
With three highly touted teams this season, the AFC East could very well be the top division in the entire league. Let’s take a look at how the division should shake out for the upcoming season.
New York Jets. If nothing else, the Jets are one of the more interesting teams in the league. Head coach Rex Ryan might say just about anything from week to week, which is always fun, and they have one of the more complete rosters in the league. With a top-tier offensive line, a young and upcoming quarterback and arguably the best defense in the league, the Jets are for real. What’s most impressive is that they’ve built the exact type of team that can win in the northeast – one that runs the ball and plays defense.
But fans also need to be wary of being overzealous. They definitely have the type of core that can overtake the Patriots at some point, but they also are only going to go as far as second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez can take them. Even the Baltimore Ravens of 2000 had a solid decision-maker in Trent Dilfer to execute the offense and not turn the ball over. However, if Sanchez can limit turnovers and progress from his rookie season, the sky is the limit for the Jets.
Buffalo Bills. Let’s start with the positives. C.J. Spiller may not have been the right pick but he’s an electric player that should at least help keep them interesting. He’ll also be pairing with a nice, complete back in Fred Jackson, though Jackson is clearly not a superstar caliber player. On the down side, their porous offensive line didn’t get any better in the offseason and they still have a mess at the quarterback position; latest rumors have Troy Smith possibly coming to Buffalo and other rumors have third-stringer Brian Brohm starting. This is going to be a rebuilding year for the Bills, and it’s hard to argue otherwise.
New England Patriots. Everyone seems to be talking about the New York Jets, which probably favors the Patriots. There are definitely some red flags on defense that popped up in 2009, though, and the Pats struggled all season long for consistency. The Pats also had a mediocre running game in 2009 and there’s no reason to think that that will magically turn it around this season either.
But there are also plenty of positives as well. One is that Wes Welker is recovering much faster than anticipated Kamagra jelly from his horrific knee injury and early reports are that he’s looking very good in training sessions. Randy Moss is also in a contract year, which suggests that he’ll be focused and committed all season long. Another year removed from his torn ACL, Tom Brady could very well be poised to bring himself back to the elite level of quarterbacks. In Brady and Belichick, the Pats still have arguably the best quarterback-coach combo in the league, which will keep them in the division race all season long.
Miami Dolphins. It’s hard not to like what the Dolphins did in the offseason. Not only did they get Brandon Marshall to help them sell NFL tickets but they also added Karlos Dansby to their linebacking corps in what could be the most underrated move of the offseason. The Dolphins also have a power running game that will only open up more now that the Dolphins can stretch the field with Marshall. Chad Henne is still largely unproven but I like his arm strength and he won’t have to do too much thanks to Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown being in the backfield. All things considered, the Dolphins should be competing for a playoff spot.
Overall: The buzz may be on the Jets, but my money would be on the Pats. They still have the best quarterback in the division and plenty of weapons to pile up points. Having said that, the Dolphins and Jets are also potential division winners and should figure into the equation after very good offseasons. The Pats may have the edge for this season, but the Dolphins and Jets are the teams that have the brightest futures post-2010.
