The term tornado also includes land spout, multiple vortex tornado, gustnado, dust devil, fire whirls, steam devil, and waterspout. They are Viagra Jelly all violent, rotating air that connects both the earth and a cumulonimbus cloud and sometimes cumulus clouds.

There are many different shapes and sizes, but are usually in the shape of a funnel with the smallest end on the ground and the biggest part in the cloud. It stirs up a lot of debris and dust which surrounds the base of the column.

They can have wind speeds from one hundred and ten miles per hour up to three hundred miles per hour. They vary in size from two hundred feet across up to more than two miles across.

The bigger the storm, the longer they will stay on the ground and obviously cause much more damage. Waterspouts are a little different because they form over water in the more tropical areas that are closer to the equator and lower latitudes.

These storms have been seen on every continent except for Antarctica. But where do the majority of tornadoes occur?

They occur in the tornado alley part of the United States. This is located between the Rocky Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains and includes the following states; South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.

Ninety percent of these types of storms that happen in the United States take place in this area. This is because you get the cold, dry air from Canada and the Rocky Mountains that mix with the warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and the hot, dry air from the Sonoran Desert.

These conditions cause an atmospheric instability and produces tornadoes. Every once in a while you will have a decent sized tornado that causes some damage outside of the alley, but very rarely.

Because so many storms occur here, there is a higher chance that they will continue to happen here. And that means that building codes in these areas are more strict than other parts of the United States.

They must have stronger roofs, more secure connections between the buildings and foundations, storm cellars, and sirens to warn the people. The media is always ready to deliver and weather warnings and make people aware of what is going on.

You will sometimes see them occur in south-central and eastern Asia, the Philippines, east-central South America, Southern Africa, northwestern and southeast Europe, western and southeastern Australia, and New Zealand. Scientists try to predict when they will happen so that people can prepare for them ahead of time.

They use the pulse Doppler radar to help them recognize patterns that are associated with these storms like hook echoes, and velocity and reflectivity data. They have many storm spotters throughout the world who are constantly on the watch for tornadoes, hurricanes, and natural fires.

The word tornado comes from the Spanish word tronada which translates to thunderstorm. The Spanish word tornar means to turn and has been combined together with tronada to come up with the English definition of a tornado.

Sometimes it is also referred to a cyclone on land and a twister. A couple of movies have been made that deal with these natural disasters including The Wizard of Oz and the film simply titled Twister.

What are some ways that you can prepare for these twisters? If you live in twister alley, make sure that you have some type of cellar that in underground and that your whole family can fit into in case of an emergency.

Make sure that you have enough food storage down there for everyone in your family to last a couple of weeks. This includes water and any medicine you might need.

First aid kits, money (more specifically cash), battery operated radio, cell phones, bedding, and extra clothes for family members. Keeping all of these things in the same spot where you will need to hide from the twister will be beneficial to you.

Talk over what your emergency plan is and how everyone will communicate with other. If you do these things, then you have a better chance of surviving whatever disaster Mother Nature throws your way.
