Snowing in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City, Utah is a beautiful place that is known for “the best snow on earth.” The mountains are beautifully draped with a white blanket of dry powder which makes for optimal snow sport conditions.
Many travel from all over the world to get a feel for the Rocky Mountain runs and trails. Whether you enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, snowmobiling or snow angeling, there is something for you to enjoy in the winter months in Salt Lake City.
There are numerous resorts to keep you entertained and treated like a star on your next vacation. Many enjoy this family friendly destination because there are many things to do for all ages and interests.
It is such a versatile land that you and your family can enjoy. Many are keen on the snowboarding scene as it is edgy and is constantly providing new ways to mix up this sport that was invented here in the United States.
Shaun White is famous for representing our country in the Olympic Games in the division of snowboarding. He is one of the reasons this sport has gained so much popularity with his higher than ever tricks and smooth rides.
He is the epitome of an American professional snowboarder and skateboarder. He is living the dream of many as a two time Olympic gold medalist.
Interestingly, he is a normal guy. He even rides at a simple regular stance, twelve and negative three degrees on his board.
He has also overcome many challenges to get where he is today. He was born with a Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect which he endured two open heart operations for before the age of one.
Today, he stands a solid 5’8″ tall at approximately 154 pounds. He spent his formative years riding Okemo Mountain and Bear Mountain, small ski resorts located in Ludlow, Vermont and the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California.
With his bright red hair, he has attained the nickname “The Flying Tomato” thanks to Rolling Stone who has admired how he embraces his flying tomato logo. If he can work such a nickname as No prescription cialis that, he must be unstoppable.
His recognition does afford him luxuries that not all snowboarders are entailed to. In February of 2009, Red Bull built White a half pipe completely out of natural snow in the back country of Silverton Mountain.
It is advantages like this that only encourage the boarder to keep training hard. After all, he has built quite the name for himself to live up to.
His career started out as he gained fame in the skateboard and snowboard world. He quickly grasped the attention of many including professional skateboarder Tony Hawk.
The two became friends at a local skate park and Hawk helped mentor White which probably helped him become a pro by the age of 17. He has won many titles on his skateboard, most notably winning the overall title of Action Sports Tour Champion.
Additionally, White was the first person to compete in and win both the Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports. Just like the route of his older brother, White switched from skiing to snowboarding at age six.
By age seven, he had already gained his first sponsorship. Since then, he has gone on to compete at the Winter Olympics in 2006 and 2010, winning gold in the snowboard half pipe event.
He has also won a medal every year since 2002 at the Winter X Games. Up until 2009, his medal count stood at 15 with 10 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.
He is definitely accomplished and has driven the sport to what it is today. Many people hit the slopes in hopes of getting just a portion of the air Shaun White reaches.
He is also an inspiration for many young boarders who dream of such success and recognition for a sport that is near impossible not to love. Perhaps you or your children should give snowboarding a try or perfect the art during your next winter vacation.
There are many resorts with the resources and instructors to help you along the way. Look into a winter sports extravaganza for you and your family today.
