Understanding the Basics of an Exercise Bike
Riding on an exercise bike can be exhausting. If you are just starting to get back into the swing of working out everyday your best option may be to hop onto an exercise bike to get your cardio workout in.
If you are a runner, biking is probably not the best workout for you. When you run you will be working different muscles in a completely different way than when you are sitting on a bike and pedaling.
You have to make sure that you take the time to understand what cardio workout is going to be best for your body. If you have consulted with a professional or even with your doctor and you decide on biking, make sure you stick with it.
When you initially sit down on an exercise bike the machine will ask for your weight and your age. You should be completely honest with the machine because it is going to affect your workout.
Some people feel embarrassed typing in their weight or even their age while there are other people around. If you are that self-conscious just cover the screen with your other hand.
After you have your age and your weight entered in the machine will give you a target heart rate zone. This is how hard and how fast you want your heart to be beating throughout your workout.
Many bikes have heart rate sensors in the handles that are located on the sides of the bike. Grab onto these handles periodically throughout your exercising time to ensure that you are keeping your heart in the target area.

Usually the bike will stay on a specific intensity for about forty seconds. You will continue changing the intensity of your workout in forty-second spurts throughout your whole workout.
To see results in your body in the shortest amount of time you will want to make sure you are working out consistently. You should be getting your cardio workout in five times a week for the fastest results.
When you are on the machine you will want to stay on for at least thirty minutes. When you are just beginning on an exercise bike thirty minutes can feel like an eternity of pedaling.
Finding a way to distract yourself from your hard breathing and your burning muscles will dramatically help you. Some people choose to read, watch television or even listen to a workout playlist.
No matter how you keep yourself on the bike for the thirty-minute duration, you will want to make sure that you do. As you continue to get back on the bike eventually the process will become easier and easier.
