Want To Go To Concerts On A Tight Budget?
Now I’m not much of a hippie nor am I closet rock star, but I love a good concert. There is nothing in the world like hearing the music without all the filters, the impromptu dialog, and the fellowship with other fans. Plus, the openers frequently give me the opportunity to be introduced to music I might not have heard of otherwise.
The only problem is that the tickets for all of my favorite bands and solo artists tend to run so high, it’s hard for a regular old college student like me to be able to attend the events I would like to.
If you operate on a tight budget but still want to enjoy your favorite events, you have probably been wondering how to find concert tickets at an affordable price without running into issues later. Allow me to offer you some tips so you don’t have to keep missing out!
First off, don’t assume that you will always find the best deal online. That is not to say that it isn’t possible–again, just don’t assume. Many online ticket venders charge an extra fee so that they can make a buck from your hope of convenience.
That is not to mention that you can hit a few snags when you are supposed to pick up tickets at a Will Call booth. Most online sellers do not allow you to print the tickets; instead, they take your name and credit card information–sometimes paired with driver’s license information.
But sometimes your information can get lost in translation. Or, on occasion, if you arrive after a certain time, you cannot pick up your tickets. So before you make an online purchase, make sure that the site is reputable. It is best to buy through the venue itself or through another legitimate site like Ticketmaster.
Then make sure that you read all the terms and conditions. Most concerts and other similar events have a policy that make tickets nonrefundable, so make sure that you clear all other plans for the night!
You may also want to check out online ticket auctions, but again, read through the terms and conditions.
Try to focus on the venue, not the band. There are many concert venues which feature plenty of bleacher seats or grass space. Some of the tickets for these areas run as low as five or ten dollars, and you can make quite a comfortable outing of it by bringing blankets and even a pillow.
As you eyeball the schedule for venues like these, you are bound to eventually see an artist that catches your eye. Don’t forget to explore lesser known bands as well. Visit your local cafe on a weekend to hear some lovely live music so you don’t miss out.
