Austrian Swarovski Crystals
Austria a country of stunningly beautiful mountains, vivid blue skies and crystal blue waters seems the fitting place as the home of Austrian Swarovski crystals. What could be a more fitting place for the world’s most beautiful crystals than this beautiful country? However, the story of Austrian Swarovski crystals did not begin here, but rather in Bohemia, in what is now part of the Czech Republic in 1862 with the birth of a small boy named Daniel Swarovski.
Daniel was quite literally born into the world of crystals and crystal cutting as Bohemia at the time was known for their cut crystal and glass and Daniels father owned a crystal cutting factory. As he grew Daniel became an apprentice in his father’s and other crystal factories around the area learning the crystal cutting process and what made some of these gem like stones more beautiful than others. cialis cheap Then one day while on a visit to Vienna, Daniel had the opportunity to see something that would determine the course of his and his family’s lives. He attended an electrical exhibition.
While viewing the wonders of electricity it occurred to Daniel that it might be possible to build a machine that could cut crystals automatically thus reducing the labor and serving to put out perfect and uniformly cut crystals. 19 years later Daniel patented just such a machine.
Fear that competitors would steal his idea and needing a reliable water supply to run his new crystal cutting machine Swarovski moved his family from Bohemia to Wattens, Austria where he built a hydroelectric plant to power his crystal cutting machine. A year later the Swarovski family began experimenting in making their own crystals.
Over time, the Swarovski family perfected their crystal making skills and became known for having the finest, clearest crystals in the world. Their crystals had and continue to have the highest light infraction rate and more enhanced color and sparkle than any other crystals to be found anywhere. The rest as they say is history.
Although Daniel Swarovski died in 1956 his family keeps his name and the quality crystals he made alive and as beautiful as ever. Today, these crystals are in high demand and they appear in clothing, jewelry and are used in the creation of beautiful collectable crystal figurines.
