NFL Tickets – Where Will T.O. Go?
When approached by a street vendor in nearly any city in the world, one way to thwart the sales pitch is for a person to say “I’m all set” and keep walking. Apparently, that strategy also works in the NFL when presented with a wide receiver looking for a new home. That is exactly what came from the San Diego Chargers’ general manager A.J. Smith when asked about the possibility of Terrell Owens becoming a Bolt prior to the start of the 2010 season.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Smith offered this when asked about Owens: “We’re all set right now with our receivers. I don’t want to be involved. A lot of people have us targeted (with T.O.), but they know I wouldn’t do it.” The Chargers have wide receiver drama of their own with Vincent Jackson, who is currently holding out for a long-term contract.
The Chargers weren’t the only team to say “no thanks” to the possibility of Owens joining the roster. Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan also shot down the possibility that T.O. would join the Redskins, narrowing down the field a little more. Shanahan is in his first season with the Redskins, and he already has enough player drama on his hands trying to motivate defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to work in his new system.
The Chicago Bears also appear to be out, at least according to quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler Cialis Jelly spoke to ESPN Radio about his team’s wide receivers. He also spoke about Owens and expressed that he has respect for how hard T.O. works as well as his skills. In the same breath, he also said that the Bears appear to be moving forward with the wide receivers already on their roster.
Despite teams passing on Owens, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, still seems confident that Owens will have a contract soon. One team that isn’t necessarily out is the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers originally looked like they were out when Panthers linebacker Jon Beason told the NFL Network that there was “no way T.O. could be a Panther.” Beason later took to his Twitter account to apologize for the comments, although he still said it was unlikely.
If Owens gets his way, he could be headed to the New England Patriots this season. In a recent radio interview, he expressed interest in the Patriots, which could actually be a good fit. The Patriots are known for being able to take over-the-top personalities, like wide receiver Randy Moss, so it could be a good fit. Only time will tell where (or if) Owens will land for 2010.
Owens went through a similar search prior to the 2009 season and ended up with the Buffalo Bills. Last season, he had a disappointing 55 receptions, 829 yards and five touchdowns. Owens has been in the NFL since 1996 and in his long career he has also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. In that time, he tallied 1,006 receptions, 14,951 yards and 144 touchdowns. Wherever T.O. ends up, fans can cheer him on by getting NFL tickets online.
