Remote Controlled Skateboard

It’s a hot summer and you and your friends want to hang out and do something fun and crazy so you figure: how about skateboarding? You’re all excited and you grab your boards and head straight out to the nearest skate park. While you all try different, new and harder to perform tricks you hear a silent sound of a motor: someone has the new radio controlled skateboard!

It’s a device basically meant to ease the effort of constantly pushing the skateboard by yourself. It’s also very useful in cheating the difficulty of some tricks and it makes them less dangerous in the process too. In other words, it’s a safer way to have fun. Another advantage of the radio controlled skateboard is that you can “roll” faster than by using the regular skateboard.

The radio controlled skateboard is composed of an electric motor and a wired/wireless handheld remote control using radio frequency and of course, the board itself.

The electric motor’s power varies between 150 and 800 watts. It can reach a velocity of up to 48 km/h and an acceleration of 40 km/h in only 4 seconds which can provide quite a rush. It uses mostly acid lead batteries but some models of remote controlled skateboard use a more modern type of batteries, the ones based on nickel-metal hydrides or lithium-polymers that last up to 15 miles. A pleasant characteristic of the electric motor is its silence so you can go for a roll and listen to your favorite music on your iPod as well at the same time, which makes your ride even more enjoyable, and so don’t disturb other people on the road nor scare off animals.

The remote control of the radio controlled skateboard can either be wired, in which case it is not influenced by other radio frequency transmissions (ex: phone poles, power lines etc.), or wireless – more likely to interfere with surrounding radio frequencies but provides a larger mobility for your hands. The main use of the radio controlled skateboard’s remote control is to turn left/right and to accelerate or to slow down the speed.

The board’s size of a radio controlled skateboard varies between 34″ – 46″ and its weight between 15.4 lbs – 66.1 lbs, depending on the size of the board and of the motor.

There are various remote controlled skateboard designed for more specific usage such as the terrain remote controlled skateboard also named “off-road skateboards”, distinguished by having large knobby tires instead of simple roller-skate wheels attached to the board.

Radio controlled skateboarding is the new skateboarding trend. Although it’s motorized it is a silent and ecological device which more and more people use: some for having fun and exercise with friends, some for making short distances even shorter, some just for spending some time out enjoying the wind blowing by them as they roll and relaxing from a hard day’s work.

So why not make your hobby more easily to practice? Next time you decide to go for a roll in the skate park or down to the mini-market to buy a bottle of milk, make sure you have your radio controlled skateboard’s remote controls turned on and start easy-rolling!
