House Cleaning With Natural Products Saves You Money

Many people are looking for ways to save money. Did you know that you could do your house cleaning with natural products that you probably already have on hand and save money at the same time? It is easy to make natural cleaning aids and besides being cheaper, they are also not toxic.

You probably have a bottle of vinegar around your home. Did you know that you can use to it to make an all-purpose cleaner that disinfects and deodorizes? Simply combine one part water and one part vinegar and store in a spray bottle for easy use. This mixture can be used to scrub your toilet and can clean your bathtub, sinks, appliances and the tops of your counters. It can also be used to mop most floors, but test in an out of the way spot first to be sure it will not harm or stain your flooring. Automatic coffee makers need to be cleaned periodically and vinegar is great for that. Run it undiluted through the brewing cycle and then run water through two or three cycles to rinse. Vinegar has many uses, but do not use it on marble surfaces.

Besides using vinegar to make cleaners, you can also make a fabric softener with it. When your washer gets to the rinse cycle, add one half cup of vinegar. You will not use a dryer sheet and the odor vinegar goes away as it dries.

Another cheap item you can use for cleaning is baking soda. Clean your surfaces by sprinkling some baking soda onto a damp sponge or cloth and wipe down. You can also clean scuff marks and spots of grease off of your flooring by using it the same way. Make a paste to clean your silver by mixing 3 parts of baking soda with one part water. After rubbing the paste on the silver, use warm water to rinse the paste off and then use a soft cloth to pat it dry. Baking soda is also for absorbing odors. Putting an open box in both your refrigerator and freezer will help odors be absorbed. You can also remove odors from your carpeting by sprinkling some baking soda over your carpet and then run your vacuum. Test your vacuum cleaner first in an inconspicuous area so that you know it is strong enough to pick up all of the soda.

If you need to clean a carpet stain, simply mix white vinegar and baking soda together into a paste. Rub the paste into the spot using an old toothbrush or a small cleaning brush. After it dries, you will need to vacuum up the baking soda that is left. Depending on the stain, you might have to repeat the procedure again to fully remove the stain.

Lemon juice can also be used in several ways to help you do cleaning jobs around your home. Use it in your bathroom and on the kitchen sink to dissolve soap scum and hard water deposits. To make a cleaning paste, mix lemon juice with baking soda or vinegar. Use one cup of olive oil with a half cup of lemon juice to make furniture polish to shine your hardwood furniture.

There are a couple of different ways to make your own glass and window cleaner. One recipe is to mix equal parts of rubbing alcohol and water with a little bit of white vinegar. Or if you prefer, mix together a half cup of rubbing alcohol, a half cup ammonia and a half cup of water. Both recipes will give you streak free shines.

Doing your house cleaning with natural products is so easy and inexpensive. You will also have a sense of pride knowing that the cleaners you use are not poisonous. It is a chore that has to be done, but at least you can save money by making your own cleaners!
