Teen Love – What is Appropriate?
Falling in love is not a problem. But this sentence holds good for only a few places. In some places there are certain restrictions and limitations as to how should lovers behave in public places. These rules are more strict in Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, etc. which are very conservative and traditional in its way of living. What is prohibited in these countries are not even bothered or given a second look in some western countries like USA, UK , European countries, etc. And these restrictions are even more for teen love. Let us now see what the restrictions are really like:
1.You should not kiss each other in public. Let kissing away, you cannot even give a tight hug to a person of an opposite sex in public. This, according to them, looks very obscene and spoils the younger generation of the country.
2.Teen love according to them is puppy love and they do not want these teenagers to take it very seriously and that is one reason they also prohibit them from meeting each other.
3.There is nothing called dating and going out existing in some countries for teenagers. This might be very common in the western part of the world but not here. But there are still some teenagers who manage to do that.
4. Teen love is considered as a crime in some colleges and schools in India especially the northern and southern parts of India. Rules are created to prohibit such activities within the campus. These rules are really absurd and dumb. Some of them are like you cannot talk to the opposite sex when you are in college or when you are within the college campus. There are special people appointed by the college authority or management to see that the particular rule is being strictly followed. If anyone is seen violating that rule, then they are either punished for their activity or are told to bring their parents to college. In some cases students are even expelled from the college.
5. The other most absurd rule in an attempt to prohibit teen love from blossoming, buses are being separated. It does not been separated in the literary term but it means that there is a long bar being fixed horizontally in the centre of the bus. Girls are expected to sit on one side and the boys are supposed to sit on the other side. And even while travelling they should not look at each other or talked to each other otherwise they would be punished. If you ask the authorities the reasoning behind all these things then their reply would be that such measures would stop teen love from happening as teen love affects the studies of the students and thereby their future too.
6.In most of the schools in India, girls and boys are made to sit separately after seventh grade and they are not supposed to sit on the same bench.
These are some of the rules existing to abolish teen love but they are not understanding a simple fact that the more force they exert to wipe away teen love; the more it would blossom. It is because human beings cannot be subdued by force but only by love.
