A Game of Strategy

Paintball is a tactical game that requires planning and strategy in order to win. Every player or team will develop their manner of winning but before you play, you should know the basics of the game.

1. Equipment is quintessential for playing let alone to winning. You’ll need to decide if you plan on renting the equipment from the facility you’re gaming at or if you are going to purchase your own. If you decide to buy your own gear, staring your research online is a savvy first step. You will find a much larger selection and great deals. When choosing a paintball gun, you should consider its quality before its brand because they are not always synonymous.

2. Know which game you are playing. Paintballing is home to two main types of play, scenario and elimination. Elimination play is a game that has a simple rule, eliminate all the players of the opposing team first. Whereas, scenario play has a specific and more detailed focus, for instance, obtaining the rival teams flag.

– A simple but effective elimination game strategy is offense and supporting offense. Basically, some of the team’s members will be designated to taking out the other team’s players. They are the aggressive offense and as such need to have agility, great aim and accuracy. The other members are assigned the task of supporting the initial offense. Their job is to protect the aggressive offense from opposing players and to use the element of surprise to get the other player out.

-For games that offer scenarios, such as capturing the other team’s flag, your tactics should adapt. For example, you are going to want to have key players attempting to retrieve the other team’s flag as your opposition will definitely have that same mission. Unlike elimination, you won’t get as many points for simply eradicating opposing players.

Everyone should play a part in the scenario in order for the mission to be completed. You should have a designated offense and defense and along with the players acquiring the flag, with every player involved, you should have a great chance of winning.

3. Never underestimate the other team. They just may be thinking of the same strategy as your team. Prepare for the unexpected by always being ready to defend. This takes agility, cunning and attention to detail. Always be aware of the positions of your teammates as you may need to help defend them against your opponents. For this very reason, paintballing is an excellent team building exercise for company retreats.

The recreational activity of paintballing requires athleticism and persistence and is meant to be a lot of fun. That being said, you shouldn’t be so focused on winning that you can’t enjoy the excitement and suspense of the game. Try taking the whole family to enjoy a day of teamwork and outdoor fun. You will be surprised at how many ideas you can come up with and how well you can learn to adapt to a competitive environment.
