Be in the World of Skateboards

Skateboards are plywood boards with four wheels that a person rides and performs tricks on. Modern skateboards first made their appearance in California, in the late 70s, when street skating soared in popularity and the first skate parks appeared. However, skateboards were made even more popular in the 80s and, in the same decade, they started to be mass marketed.

Skateboards are great – they’re fun and will make you look like the coolest person in the eyes of your friends and everyone you know. Just imagine yourself quickly riding in the sunset on a slick board or doing tricks that seem impossible at first sight.

Here are a few examples of the tricks you can do on skateboards: the well-known Ollie (when you make your skateboard jump in the air), the kick flip, the foot flip, the handrail slide, the nollie etc. Actually all skateboarding tricks can be grouped in several categories: freestyle tricks, aerials, flips, boardslides and grinds, lip tricks, pressure tricks and manual tricks. Somebody who is able to do all these difficult moves and maneuvers is a true professional with skateboards and has probably gained the respect of many other skaters.

If you want to learn to do difficult tricks you must practice a lot, but all this work will be useless if you don’t have the right skateboard. Choosing skateboards is not as easy as it seems at first sight. There are several factors you must keep in mind, such as how much money you’re ready to spend on skateboards and other skating gear and what are your goals and skating abilities.

If you want a good, reliable skateboard (and this is what you need if you want to learn quickly and have a positive experience), you should try brands like Sector 9, Santa Cruz, Gravity, Arbor or GFH Skateboards. With these brands, you know you’re definitely going to get you money’s worth. There are many great skateboard models available from all these brands and a few others. Check out, for instance, the Santa Cruz Land Shark Cruiser or the Gravity Bertlemann 33″ Stylemaster and you won’t be disappointed. Or maybe you’d prefer a longboard (loangboards are longer skateboards typically used for downhill racing or cruising). If so, why don’t you get yourself an Arbor Pocket Rocket KOA complete?

Skateboards consist of several components (deck, trucks, wheels, bearings and hardware) and come in different shapes and sizes. You can choose from a wide range of designs and colors the skateboard that suits your style and personality. When you buy a skateboard, you should choose one according to your height and the size of your feet. If you’re small a mini might suit you very well, but if your taller you’ll need to look through bigger skateboards.

After you’ve bought your skateboard, all you have to do is try it out. Don’t expect to be able to do all the big tricks from the very beginning (or any tricks at all for that matter) – they’ll come with practice. At first, you should just take it easy and enjoy your ride!
