How to Lose That 10 Lbs Just Before Your Vacation

My wife and I were invited to attend her nephews wedding in Mayan Riviera of Mexico, March 6, 2009. I was sitting at 194 pounds which is about 20 pounds over my fighting weight and I had to wear a bathing suit on the beach and around the pool at the resort where we were going to stay.

I needed to find a program to lose weight fairly fast so I would look good around the pool, and also enjoy the other benefits of reshaping your body. I had just over two months till the wedding.

My sister-in-law Susan also wanted to lose some weight before the wedding so I challenged her to a bet. The bet was the person who didn’t lose the stated amount of weight on arrival in Mexico would have to wear something embarrassing on the beach. What motivation!

Some of the people around the office where I work at had recently tried the South Beach Diet and showed positive results. They raved about how easy it was to follow and how fast they got results. This was for me.

I got started on the program right away. The program takes you through three phases. The South Beach Diet phase 1 lasts for two weeks and you learn to restrict certain food groups from your meals to stabilize your system and learn which foods you can eat as much as you want. This is the hardest part of the diet. It is only two weeks long and once you conquer this you are home free. In phase two you slowly reintroduce some of the food groups you couldn’t have in phase 1. Phase three is basically the rest of your life where you are educated on what, when and how much to eat. This is meant to give you a broad overview of what to expect. The on-line program goes into very specific detail for each phase.

As with most programs for losing weight and dieting, you should consult a physician before starting. Exercise is highly recommended to enhance the desired results.
