You would really think that winter season is a great hindrance to metal detecting. You do not have to wait for winter season to finish its long course. There are some tips that you can follow so that you will still have fun metal detecting under the pouring rain.

1. Protect your metal detector from the rain using commercial meter rain-cover.
You need to protect your metal detector’s meter so that it will not get soaked in the rain and would continue to give accurate signals. You would not want to go digging in the wet soil and getting nothing but trash because your metal detector got confused after getting wet. You may use a commercial meter rain-cover to keep it dry. However, this dry state may not last long as eventually the rain-covers will get damp from the inside.

2. Use plastic grocery bags as meter rain-cover.
If you do not want to spend more for your metal detector, you can use plastic grocery bags to cover the meter. 4. Buy waterproof headphones.
Since you will expose yourself to the rain, you should not forget to buy waterproof headphones. However, you may also content yourself with standard headphones for they will still work even under the rain showers.

Metal detecting during winter will give you a new dimension to your hobby.
