Nokia 97 Mini Mobile Phone Review – Slender and Effective

The Nokia 97 Mini is smaller and more attractive than the previous model, but it doesn’t stop there. It not only has a 5 megapixel camera and a responsive touch screen, but it also has a smaller price tag. So even if you were not fond of the Nokia 97, you just might want to check out the Mini.

Appearance:

One of the biggest complaints of the previous model was that it was too big and clumsy. The Mini is more attractive, smaller and lighter.

The Nokia Mini weighs only 138g and has 3.2 inch screen with 16.7 million colors. The screen is reasonably responsive. Just remember to use your fingertips and not your finger nails.

The exterior is well-built and the QWERTY keyboard slides in and out with ease and closes firmly. The raised keys make typing quick and easy.

All the glitches from the previous model seem to be gone. The Mini runs so much smoother. One complaint however is the fact that the spacebar is not located on the bottom, it is on the right hand side, which seems to cause a problem for some users.

Sound:

In the sound department the 97 Mini works quite well. The sound is clear and sharp and you can use your own headphones thanks to the addition of a 3.5 headphone jack. This phone can play MP3s, MWA, AAC ,eAAC and eAAC+. An FM radio is also included. The clear, crisp sound makes this phone excellent for conference calls.

Camera:

The camera on the Nokia 97 Mini is one of its best features. You will still need to rely on your own digital camera for high quality photos, but with 5 megapixels, 14x digital zoom, dual LED flash, picture and video geo tagging, dedicated camera key and Carl Zeiss optics, this is a powerful camera. You also get a separate camera for making movies, video streaming and light options. There are also a variety of settings to play with.

Internet connectivity:

To keep you connected, the mini offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G HSDPA, EDGE, TV Out, WLAN and a micro USB option. If you like to text you should enjoy the MMS, SMS and instant messaging features. However, the push email and email web widgets seem to be a little confusing for some users. Lastly, the quad band and WCDMA technology will keep you connected wherever you travel.

Memory and Talk Time:

Unfortunately the memory is also “mini” on this phone, but the 8 gigabytes should let you store photos, music, and emails. Also available is 16 gigabytes on a micro SD card. You might need to keep your charger close to you, since the talk time is 7 hours and the stand by is 320 hours.

Conclusion:

With its sophisticated OS, powerful camera, fast internet and good looking appearance, the Nokia 97 Mini is a definite upgrade from the previous model. The Nokia N97 Mini is a much more practical phone than the original. It’s also more responsive and has better usability than the Nokia N97 mobilephone. This is a phone well worth your consideration.
