The Basics And Different Types Of Embroidery

In the past people handcrafted embroidery by using a needle and thread, some will substitute yarn to handcraft and decorate fabric, this is called the art of embroidery. When creating an embroidery piece many people will include different types of materials like metal strips, beads, pearls, sequins or quills. When sewing embroidery the basic stitch can go through the top or the stitch can go through the bottom or base of the fabric, it all depends on the placement of the stitch. Short stitches are also known as embroidery.

When people talk about embroidery the use many different terms, one such term is the embroidery stitch, this is the smallest stitch known in embroidery. Candle wicking is a process whereby knots are looped to form a figure 8 around the needle. To make an embroidery pattern the stitches used can vary and can be different or sometimes they can be the same. There are many different ways to create a pattern, using a pre-printed design, using chart paper or for the more advanced using the freehand technique.

Embroidery was first introduced about hundred years ago; many people because of the way clothes are produced today do not realize this. Embroidery is used for the sprucing up fabrics or clothing with beads, metal or designs, these designs are attached using a needle and thread. Adding these beads or designs takes a skilled hand to properly use the needle with the fabric. In the past embroiders used hand stitching to accomplish attaching these designs, this is time consuming, today machines accomplish the same task in a fraction of the time.

With the invention of creating new materials there are so many different type of threads used today. Some of these new threads are rayon, silks and yarns, while these are common there are also many uncommon types of thread. For a beginner the easiest stitch to learn is called the loop stitch, this stitch is very basic, the need goes up through the fabric and is inserted back into the same hole when it returns.

There are different types of hoops that come with the different models of embroidery machines, these hoops will then be connected to the machine. No need to worry about the fabric moving, the new machines have something called the darning foot, this device does not need to hold the fabric and the fabric does not need to be fed under to hold it. Since technology is increasing everyday the advances in computer technology in embroidery help maintain quality in the finish products plus increases efficiency of manufacturing.

As computer technology keeps advancing the machines are becoming less difficult to work with, the computer and software system allows the person working the machine to control it without any problems. All these machines now come with software that can be manipulated to create designs that have a complex sense about them. The thread that is used with these new high tech systems is continually changing to keep up with the times, the newest type of thread is called metallic thread, some other threads are polyester and rayon and still new threads are being created.
