I am in my early thirties and I just feel so lucky knowing that we now enjoy the products of technology from having to communicate easily to entertainment. I could never imagine how life was during my parents’ childhood years. They would say “You are lucky we have all sorts of phones to communicate, television to watch when you have to stay home all day and relax, shopping malls to buy your stuff, disco’s and bars when you want to hang out with friends, coffee shops when you want to show off your new laptop and enjoy internet connection, playgrounds, Arena for football games, paintball and more, Arcade for computer games – so much that you tend to use them so abusively. But on the contrary, they are as lucky as we are because they lived a simple life back then and they get to experience the life right now. They’ve had the best of two different scenarios. They get to compare and they get to appreciate life more.

Shopping malls are heaven when compared to the old and stinky wet markets. As television is to transistor radios. We could have good time in discos and bars after a stressful work week. It’s good that we have different blend and flavors of coffees in the markets and in the Coffee Shops while checking our email accounts or getting a job done. It is also good that we have fields and playgrounds for all sorts of games like paintball, football and other ball games. They also played battle games during their time but now is so much better, with the paintball. A battle of two teams complete with gadgets and suits to protect the players from the mud and the paint stains. Soccer, basketball and other ball games have been played by the kids of their generation but they resort to improvising of the materials needed. They may have come across the ideas and played the game with the same concept but with different tools. Like the paintball, they have played battle games in the muddy rice fields where they also have barriers to hide into but they have no protective gears and no actual paintball pellets. And lastly, the arcades, where the children of today will mostly spend their time due to their fondness in computer games that most of us tend to abuse. Imagine how we would spend our day lying down while waiting for the laundry to get done, the cooking we all leave to the microwave ovens to do the cooking for us. Simple tasks we would rather not do due to laziness.

Imagine how our parents and grandparents used to enjoy the simplicity of life, then? How they survived life without real transportation but their bare muddy feet? . And now, some of them experience the life we have today and you may hear them loving more the life they had then. You cannot blame them; they have seen the bests of then and now.
