* Horseshoes

Horseshoes is a fun game that can be played in the backyard, at a park, or at the beach. There are ground stakes that will need a strong support to stay up, such as ground dirt or sand; so horseshoes wouldn’t really be able to be played on a driveway or parking lot. The stakes are placed a certain number a feet away and horseshoes are tossed toward the stakes in an attempt to have the shoe wrap around the stake, or get as close to the stake as possible, or lean up against the stake for points. A horseshoe that wraps around the stake is called a ringer, and scores the most points, three. A stake that is closest to the stake, at least six inches from it, gets a point. A leaning horseshoe gets two points. Usually the the two teams play up to 21 points, with the winning team needing to win by two points. The scoring may vary because there are different ways that people play, some more professionally than others, but regardless this is a fun game that can be set up quickly if you have all the equipment.

* Cornhole

Cornhole is a game whose origins are unknown, but regardless, is a great and fun lawn game that kids and adults alike can play and enjoy! The game is similar to horseshoes, but easier to set up and play. The goal of the game is to toss corn bags into a whole or onto a platform for points. In this game, there are two platforms facing each other that are placed 26 feet apart, measuring from the front. The back of the platforms are raised a bit and there is a hole toward the top of platform, this will be the target for the corn bags. A cornbag thrown into the hole receives three points, and a bag thrown onto the platform receives one point. The game, like horseshoes, is often played to 21 points.

* Ladder Toss

Ladder Golf is a really fun summertime lawn game that is super easy to play. Basically there is a ladder with three rungs. The players toss a bola, which is two balls connected by a string, toward the ladder. If it hangs on the bottom rung, it’s three points; the middle rung is two points, and the top rung is one point. The goal of the game is for the first team to get to 21 points.
