Criminals are at rise. Wherever your feet may take you, there will always be criminals waiting at an area surveying the scene and choosing their best victim. You cannot tell that they are criminals because they are disguised. You thought they are innocent persons but it is the other way around. You can never really trust anyone in this point of time. Trusting someone you hardly even know is such a big mistake to make.

The rapid increase of violence and other forms of crime is really very alarming. Hearing the news alone of individuals being abused and brutally killed keeps the society in fear. Who would not be afraid of hearing terrible news here and there? We all want to live a happy and safe life but how can we if there are criminals that are just waiting around the bend? If we do not wish to become their next victim, it is best that we remain at home or if not be alert and prepared at all times.

It is the teenagers and the young adults whom we commonly here in the news of being victims of kidnap, rape and other forms of violence. And it is sad to know that only a few of those criminals are caught and being sent to jail. That is true to almost any country that you will visit. College students including those in the secondary level of education are mostly the victims and the parents have no other choice but to become strict with regards to house rules and curfew.

Thankfully, there are self defense weapons that are invented to give twenty-four hours of security to an individual. Parents especially those who are really concerned of their children’s welfare give a specific type of self defense weapon not knowing that teenagers especially those under the age of eighteen are prohibited to use the device.

Even if the purpose is for self defense, when you get caught using one, you will still have to face the law since you have violated the rules. There seems to be no halt to those individuals particularly those belonging in the college level in bringing the self defense weapon like taser inside the campus. Other than that, the school administration is concerned of the welfare of their students. The weapon might be used in creating violence and that is what the school administration is avoiding.

There are other means to keep the self protected when inside the school campus. Use of alarms, house or car keys, ball pens and other cosmetic products will serve as your alternative self defense weapon. Following the rules prevents an individual from being sent to jail or perhaps from being suspended or expelled from the university.

The important thing here is that one knows how to remain calm and focused when in a life threatening situation. Since we already know that criminals are everywhere, better yet we become alert and prepared at all times.
