Your Favourite Sweets and Treats
We all had a particular type of sweet that was special to us when we were younger. We think back on them a remember fondly these happy times. There are plenty of classic and nostalgic sweets that everyone will have happy memories of, but you may be surprised to find that lots of them are still around!
When there is an important anniversary coming up, it can sometimes be difficult to know what to buy for that special someone. If you don’t know what else to buy then making up some sort of a gift basket can be a thoughtful way to give a present. Of course you can put anything into a gift basket, however going for the nostalgia factor can make things a lot more fun. It is also a theme that allows you a lot of flexibility in what you decide to choose.
Of course there are quirky and humerous ways to think about doing this. For example if you were putting together a gift basket for someone’s 50th birthday it would certainly be a unique gift if you were to fill the basket with sweets, candies and treats that were popular 30-50 years ago. It could also be a nice idea if you were to combine them with pictures from around that time – perhaps focusing on the trends and fashions that looked good at the time but are horribly embarrasing now!
What if that special someone has a favourite film or movie? Well what goes better with an old film than some classic sweets that might have been bought at the cinema instead of popcorn?
There’s other ideas for ways you can use nostalgic sweets and candy. If you or someone you know is throwing a party where the theme is based around a particular decade or era then not only will colourful sweets add to the decor of your party, but having authentic sweets from the time will add a quirky touch to your party. Alternatively if you are having an American themed party then there are plenty of websites that will import popular American candies, food and drink.
Don’t forget that these sorts of parties aren’t just for adults as children will be certain to get a kick out of these old time sweets. Though they may not appreciate the nostalgic element, there was obviously a reason why you loved the sweets when you were young and children are sure to love them for the same reasons. As with any sugary foods, you should make sure that kids eat them responsibly. It’s one thing to let your child have a treat but at the same time you will no doubt want them to look after their teeth too. Remind them about the importance of regularly brushing their teeth – it will certainly help them to avoid all those scary trips to see the dentist!
Classic and nostalgic sweets and candies are lots of fun. They aren’t something you need to have a constant supply of, but can be a pleasant treat from time to time and they are sure to help you remember some fond memories.
