One of the most important things to remember when participating in carting is that your pet Rottweiler must not be made to pull a loaded cart that is more than 3 times his total body weight. It draws inspiration from another very popular sporting event in the US – sports car driving.
If you want your Rottweiler to try out this extremely engaging and physical sport, it is essential that he is physically and mentally prepared for it. Dog rally is a fast paced sport, and you can’t afford to relax and take it at your own preferred pace. Instead, participants are timed, and the event shall cover 15 to 20 performance stations, where your pet Rottie will be required to do something different. The performance of participating Rotties in each of these stations will be watched by an event judge.
The main objective is for your Rottweiler to finish all performance stations at the shortest time possible. In most cases, Rotties will have their hands full when competing against Collies. Rotties may have a hard time keeping up with Collies because of their bulky body. However, with proper training, your pet Rottie can perform extremely well in a dog rally.
