Bible Verses About Attitude: Boost Your Sense of Well-Being

When was the last time you felt so down you wanted to jump off a cliff and get it over with? When was the last time you got up from bed in the morning with a heavy feeling in your chest, and in no mood to go to work at all? If someone in heaven love you so much, how come your equals on Earth treat you like dirt? On the other hand, when was the last time you felt… happy?

Simply put, our own attitude has as much impact on our daily lives as the attitude of the people around us. There are times when you feel like nothing can put you down. Your head is bursting with ideas, and you’re beginning to think you could’ve earned a million dollars by now had you taken art classes in college. On the other hand there are times when you feel like there’s nothing anyone can say or do to pick you up from where you’ve fallen down. The world is a harsh play, you think to yourself. It is no place for children and old men. People are always trying to make something for themselves even if it’s at the expense of somebody they know.

The Bible is not one to take this issue lightly. There are Bible verses specifically addressing the human attitude. We all know the saying that goes somewhat like, the only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude, but how much do we really know about attitude based on the Bible verses? Let’s see what the scriptures have to say.

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

“Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus.” (Romans 15:5)

“Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.” (Romans 12:16)

“”Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)

The Bible verses tell us to be positive, to “be the same as that of Christ Jesus”. The old saying mentioned earlier rings true. But why should we possess a good attitude towards life? It’s for the Lord. To make the best of the time He has given us, we should always put on our best attitude in whatever we do. He tells us to be like His Son, Jesus Christ. We should.

The next time you don’t feel like getting up in the morning to go to work, think of the Bible verses and God’s words about attitude. May you find the inspiration there to persevere.
