Common Computer Repair Mistakes That Customers Make
Customers can be quite ridiculous sometimes, but that is normal when you are not an expert on something. It is normal for people to make assumptions of the things around them because of direct past experiences or those that were merely, relayed to them. Computer repair service centers encounter a number of different people every day; each troubled with a different dilemma and all of them requiring some kind of assistance. Some have better computer knowledge and will almost converse with the specialist in a jargon that only the elites will understand, but a bigger chunk of the customers that these centers receive are more clueless than anything. Their knowledge about computers is only limited to the use of it and when they encounter problems, they make bizarre assumptions that many computer experts find truly ridiculous.
Nevertheless, part of the computer repair service is to listen to the customers’ problems. So whenever these troubled users come to a service centers carrying their own burdens, a good repair service should not only address the situation blindly, but also endeavor to offer some knowledge that the computer user can use for his future benefit.
Here are some of the common mistakes and assumptions that users insist on when they visit an IT consultant?
a. I need to buy a better system, one that will be faster than what I am currently using. Many people believe that to be able to have a better running and better functioning machine, they need to throw away the system that they have now and just replace it with something newer. Well, while that is a good solution to the problem, it is also impractical and very costly. Many of the customers who decide to do this blindly, do not realize that the system that they currently have is still good. Many computer users are just not knowledgeable of the proper use of their system and so they cannot maximize it. However, if you are able to do this, you can easily run your programs without the need for a newer and more high tech model
b. I need to get rid of older programs and give myself more space; give me a bigger hard drive.
Getting rid of older memory does not always solve the problem. Many people, in their attempt to clean their systems of old memory accidently get rid of crucial files that are meant to make the system function more efficiently. By not being careful, they jeopardize their system even more and quickly assume that more space would be the answer. Instead of installing another hard drive, why not just maximize the RAM in the old computer; this will address the problem precisely.
c. I need to install more antivirus to better protect my system.
People assume that if they install different spywares and anti-viruses then they can better target menacing virus attack. Well, keeping multiple spywares and anti-viruses do not really make your security more efficient, it will only slow your system down. Keep your computer simple and only install the things that you need.
All these assumptions have reason enough, but it is a specialist’s job to rectify the truth and straighten things out. Hopefully, you understand better now.
